They’re going to hunt you tomorrow” (170). Jack kills Ralph last because Ralph is the last person Jack views as a threat to his goals. Jack is afraid Ralph might prevent him from taking complete control of the island, since initially Ralph was the leader. The darkness of humanity can destroy society since society gets in the way of the darkness of humanity. In the Lord of the Flies, Jack has been trying to destroy Ralph since chapter 1 because he wanted power.
Elaine Xu Mr. Bohnak English 11th 10/1/14 Comparison Essay Introduction “Throughout this unit we have explored the motif of monsters as it relates to dystopian literature.” I find this choice of words interesting by comparing monsters to people who want to create dystopian life styles. I agree with this likeness since in the history of our real world, we have seen dictator monsters causing people to suffer, by their attempts at creating perfect civilizations. One example was the suffering caused during World War 2 by Hitler; who wanted a perfect Arian nation of all white, Christian people. He killed Jewish people, homosexuals, blacks, and everyone else who were not alike and also those who disagreed with his society of only white people who were alike. Today, people suffer around the world with random acts of murder and violence by terrorists; who want to kill all people who do not join in their one group with fanatical ideals about Islam and suppressing women.
These invasions of privacy are justified by the removal of all individuality in society. The constant bombardment of propaganda the government forces on society keeps the individual brain washed into accepting
You are an ogre. Let me go, or I will tell my papa." (Shelley 127) When the creature approaches William he screams and runs away in terror. This makes the monster feel very alone and he becomes enraged and eventually ends up strangling William to death. He then takes a picture of Caroline Frankenstein that the boy has been holding and places it in the folds of the dress of a girl sleeping in a barn—Justine Moritz, who is later executed for William’s murder.

During the blitz, the government wanted to try and keep the morale and ‘blitz spirit’ because this was what Hitler was determined to destroy. They achieved this mainly through the Ministry of Information, whose main job was to see how the people of Britain were feeling, and then use censorship and propaganda to counter their mood. They used the Mass Observation team to overhear people’s everyday conversations and work out how they felt about certain aspects of the war. Then, instead of putting the problems right, they would launch campaigns to make everyone feel better about them or forget about them. For example, the Mass Observation team picked up that people didn’t feel safe using the government shelters.
Bain and Hitler wanted to eliminate a certain group of people in each of their situations, to make their city or country better than what it currently was. In the movie The Dark Knight Rises, Bane a main villain in the film proclaims that his revolution's enemies are the rich and the corrupt, who he contends are oppressing "the people", and fooling them with myths of opportunity. By him trying to eliminate the rich and corrupt he is influencing the poor and criminals to join him in his destiny. Bane has many different public speeches, for example he has a speech that talks about “the people” running their own city and that “police will survive as they learn to serve true justice”. The speech helps create an army for Bane, people that fallow under him that want “true justice”, the poor and prisoners are an example.
“The genocide was calculated to exterminate them; the hateful vitriol used against the Tutsi in the press and on radio broadcasts illustrated this thought process” (citation 1). Because Hutu people were not educated enough, they did not have independent thought and followed the instructions from their leaders. They became crazy to kill Tutsi people in revenge for the long-time conflicts and venom. Their deference to government and blindness
These feelings towards a Government often occur in today’s society and the portrayal of this in V for Vendetta emphasises the discontent to the audience and presents us with a negative view on society as a whole; as it relates to people like Mugabe and his Government who control by fear and intimidation and are the centre of discontent. An extremely effective technique McTeigue used to present a negative view on society is dialogue. After the V destroys the Old Bailey the media report that the building was actually demolished for structural reasons. While watching this report on TV Evey’s co-worker exclaims, “Do you believe that load of bollocks?” This illustrates the unhappiness within the masses and the discontent they hold. Another example is a quote from Dascomb, “Our job is to report the news, not fabricate it... That's
The Party that rules over Oceania in the novel “1984” destroyed all books that were published before 1960. The novel states there was a “total destruction of all books published before 1960.” The Party had these books destroyed because it helped their regime into power.
