There are seven different clinics within the facility, family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, sports medicine, and a faculty-staff clinic. The clinic also has its own testing lab that collects and runs blood and urine tests. Though there are many different practices within the same organization there is one information system tying all of them together. Many patients use the medical center as its primary care facility, which makes the facility a comprehensive care center for them, which is the high level purpose of their information system. That is to say that their primary care doctor has the ability to refer them to anyone of the other disciplines using the information system that is in place.

It’s a fact that there will always be a need for medical attention and healthcare, no matter the state of the economy or the size of a population. The two careers I decided to research are both in the medical field, and both are stable jobs that have an ultimate goal of helping people heal.
