Language: She uses common english language, that can be easily understood by the general population. There are some hardly used words, but she provided definitions. Bias: She gave an example of both positive and negative benefits we can get from social networking, I did not find any biases. Contradictions: I agree for most of the part of her article, except when she said, that the antidote for sharing online is more sharing online, that people will act reasonably when everyone they know is watching them. I beg to disagree, because if that is true, then how come there are still a lot of people oversharing online, despite knowing everyone is watching them.
Tumblr allows bloggers to interact with each other sharing images, videos, thoughts and more. Through the use of Tumblr and interacting with Tumblr bloggersI have started using “:3” (a type of smiley) when I find something cute or pleasing. Tumblr has also resulted in me using the tilde (~) as a replacement for the full stop since it is not as abrupt as a full stop. This makes what I want to say seem more free flowing and light hearted. Another change in my written language that was influenced by Tumblr is the changing of spelling of certain words such “girl” which I now write as “qurl” and “guys” which I now write as “guise”. Tumblr supports .gif files as a result of this when I would like to emphasize a point a .gif file is used.

Hollering vs. Texting Hollering and texting are two types of communication for people to use to talk to one another. Texting is a more modern type of communication, and hollering is an older version type of communication, yet sometimes used today too. Texting and hollering are both an effective form of communication because of adequate transmission of tone and functionality. Hollering and texting both show tone, but they do it in different ways. Hollering shows tone by using different types of pitches and sounds with someone using their voice, unlike texting which uses words.
Thomas Shanks Mrs. Rinker English 111 Example paper 2/8/11 Texting and Talking Texting and talking has made life easier for many people; maybe. Texting has some advantages, yet talking can have just as many. Both of them each have an equal amount of disadvantages as well and can be a major distraction, and possibly make lives harder. Many people enjoy texting because it’s straight to the point and there are no run on conversations. Texting can be very fast, easy, quiet, and efficient.
After analyzing, evaluating and interpretating data and opinions, it can be asserted that text and computer-mediated messages ARE creative, however only towards a specific audience and age group. To many, texting provides us with the opportunity to express and magnify our culture and identity through the letters, numbers and graphic symbols that we select. The mobile telephone works in the same manner as a diary, a cultural artifact, seen as significant and expressive by many mobile users. Texters learn to use socially authorized techniques when interacting with their peers and these methods are great references to their personal idiolects as well as their sociolect. SMS users learn that the ways in which they text takes on particular social meanings, signifying different aspects about their individuality...
Article Critique: Talking Styles Anecia Hills Com 200 Interpersonal Communication Prof. Kristy Nelson February 13, 2012 Article Critique: Talking Styles Forming an opinion from Bruce Bower’s article “Shared Talking Styles Herald New and Lasting Romance,” it makes sense that people who “click” conversationally would have a better chance at a lasting relationship. The author has supported most of his ideas with a study led by Molly Ireland and James Pennebaker of the University of Texas at Austin. Bower suggests that similarity in the usage of functions words such as pronouns, articles, conjunctions, prepositions and negations are representative of how drawn individuals are to each other (Bower, 2010). The studies shown from the article listed above and the scores I received from the “Language Style Matching” website concede in making this article relevant to my own opinions on whether or not it is supposed matching talking styles that ignite long-lasting interactions between two people. As a result of the way you choose and arrange your words and sentences, style is formed.
Secondly, online dating makes it easier to communicate with others. Online dating websites allows people to say who they are, what they are about, what interests them, and what attracts them to others. Other online dating users use that information and compare it to themselves, to see if they would be a match. It is easier to tell someone who you are by messaging then because sometimes we as people cannot always find the right words to say verbally. Lastly, although online dating is fun, exciting, fast and easy some precautions should be used.
Media has also influenced my language. I find myself using “texting language” in everyday conversation. Some of the most popular phrases I use are, “OMG”, “TMI”, “WTF”, and “LOL”. The constant exposure to these phrases cause a natural transition from texting to everyday conversation. Movies have also influenced my language.
And the costs of complying and some additional costs such as audit fees can be very high, especially for small firms. Furthermore, if the IPO fails JetBlue will lose money. This makes the IPO process time consuming and expensive. Finally, the future benefits of being listed are not guaranteed. After weighting the costs and benefits of going public, in my opinion, private placement would be a better idea for JetBlue to raise funds particularly following the terrorist attacks of September 2001, because private placement is less expensive, less time consuming and do not need for registration, and at the same time, JetBlue can also raise funds quickly through private placement.
