By the age of 3 a child will be using negatives and plurals in their speech and vocabulary will increase rapidly. Social, emotional and behavioural development - The first relationships that very young children build are with their parents/carers. At this stage young children will express frustration by throwing tantrums, and will want to start doing things for themselves. 3-7 years At this stage children will be refining their physical movements and being more confident with them. More control is developed over
Understand child and young peoples development. 1.2) Explain the difference between sequence of development and rate of development and why the difference is important. Sequence of development is some thing that the child has to develop in order - for example they learn to recognise words before being able to attempt saying that word themselves or a baby has to learn to sit up and support their own weight before being able to crawl. The rate of development is the speed at which the child develops a skill. Some children’s rate of development is a lot faster then others, for example some babies learn to walk at 10 months while others don’t start walking until they are over a year old.
The framework focuses on ‘learning through play’ and states that by the age of five children should be able to do such things as write their own name, count up to ten and understand that people have different needs, views and beliefs. There are many arguments for and against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Some people believe that children will be forced into academic work too early and others believe that childminders and nurseries should be responsible for making sure that children have reached a certain standards before they begin school. Frameworks such as the Early Foundation Stage framework usually come into effect after vast amounts of research into the issue. There are many psychologists who have carried out research into early learning and the importance of play.
Although all children will develop at different rates and in different ways, the sequence in which they develop will be roughly the same as they need to have developed one skill, for example walking, before they move on to develop another such as running and jumping. Development is often referred to on a timeline and is broken down in ages. As development is more rapid in early years the milestones start by being quite close together before becoming further apart as baby becomes a child and then a young adult. The aspects of development that children are measured on are physical, language, social and emotional, and intellect. From birth through to adulthood children continually grow, develop, and learn.
-Sensory Motor Stage (Birth to 2 years): During this stage senses, reflexes, and motor abilities develop very fast. Children exorcise these motor skills by playing with toys, trial and error, and repetition to receive the same results. -Pre operational Stage (Ages 2 to 7 years): At this stage a child is not able to think logically yet. They are not yet able to see things from another point of view, only their own. This results in the phase where a child is very egocentric.
Homework – Week 1 Unit 01 – Child and young person development (1.1) Explain the difference between sequence of development and rate of development and why the difference is important (1.1) Sequence of development and rate of development are both linked together but in separate ways. The sequence of development is the order in which a child develops, for example, a child of 0-2 years would begin to roll over, crawl, stand and start to walk unaided. However sometimes a child may miss out a section of the sequence, for example, a child of 0-2 years may sit, stand, walk and run missing out rolling over and crawling completely. However the child is still following a sequence of development be-it a different style of sequence. The rate of development is the time frame in which the child should achieve the difference development mile stones, for example, a child of 3 years old should be able to walk up and down stairs unaided, use a fork and spoon and refer to themselves a “I”.
Puberty is different for boys and girls. Females reach puberty sooner then males. Some challenges a female would face are; hips getting wider, menstration, produce eggs, acne, boobs growing, pubic hair, body odor, For the males some challenges are; voice change, produce sperm, muscles start to grow, pubic hair, body odor and acne. For both males and females they will start to devolp attitude becuase of wanting to be independent (an adult). They will also have to adjust to thier bodies which may cause them to be unfomfortable with themselves.
The myth is that the brain develops within the first three years of a child’s life, so the first three years are the most important for development. Disagreement With Myth Lugo-Gil and Tamis-LeMonda (2008) found that the parenting quality, judged by the interactions between parent and child, influence the cognitive development of a child. The act of spending quality time with a child in early development has a positive influence on cognitive development (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). The difference surrounding the myth is that the brain is not fully
There is an expected pattern for children to develop from birth to 19 years, however it is important to realise that every child is different. The expected milestones are based on what most children will be capable of by age. Children’s development happens in step changes, they have large “jumps” then plateau, and so on. In all areas of a child’s development children start by learning through trial and error i.e. : poking and fiddling.
Infants cannot predict reaction, and therefore must constantly experiment and learn through trial and error. Such exploration might include shaking a rattle or putting objects in the mouth. As they become more mobile, infants' ability to develop cognitively increases. Early language development begins during this stage. Object permanence occurs at 7-9 months, demonstrating that memory is developing.
