Play time can also become a family experience which serves to bond family members together and allow adult members an opportunity to model healthy exercise habits for children. Exercise also helps young children develop a healthy self-image and positive self-esteem as they take pride in their physical accomplishments. The exhilaration that comes with running, laughing, and playing can also boost a child's mood. This leads to one of the most important reasons kids should play outside: its fun! Curriculum Model Position Paper Nate Burk Kinesiology 305 December 11, 2014 “A student-centered learning environment is characterized by high levels of student engagement and empowerment so that students become central to the learning process” (Richards & Levesque-Bristol, 2014). This would be my ideal setting for my physical education class. I want my students to inspire the curriculum, because if they are not interested in it or if it is not beneficial to them they will not benefit from my class. Organization skills are very important because the tasks of life run a lot easier when you know where to find something as opposed to stressing out over finding something in a mess. Teamwork is also an important skill I have learned, when you do something as a team, you can get it done faster. Through cooperation, a team can do just about anything. Gym class does not only involve sports activities and endurance training. It is physical education where students are taught the basis of living a positive, healthy lifestyle.
