TH270 Unit 5 Assignment Burrowing owls are normally active during the day and sometimes active during the nights ("Fact sheet burrowing," 2012). The live underground in burrows dug up by mammals such as, squirrels and prairie dogs ("Fact sheet burrowing," 2012). If a burrowing owl is disturbed, the owl will make a sound like a rattlesnake ("Owls-burrowing owl," 1999-2012). In order to have a successful dessert and concert it would be wise to go to the Resort prior to making event plans. At the resort one could walk around to become familiar with the surroundings and look for signs of the burrowing owl. The Florida burrowing owl is classified as a “species of special concern” by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission ("Owls-burrowing owl," 1999-2012). The burrows, owls, and their eggs are protected from harassment and/or any disturbance by state laws ("Owls-burrowing owl," 1999-2012). There is to be no pesticides or digging near or on the homes of the burrowing owls ("Owls-burrowing owl," 1999-2012). To avoid disrupting the owls and to be eco-friendly, one would have to plan the event early. I would suggest not putting poles in the ground, in case a burrowing owl lives in that area. I would indicate areas of green clean-up for different waste products ("7. Clean-up plans," 2003-2012). A map drawn up for the clean-up aides would indicate what is to be thrown where and where the area would be at ("7. Clean-up plans," 2003-2012). I would hire a local caterer that specialized in organic food and decorate the area naturally ("Hosting eco-friendly events," 2012). The area the dessert and performer would be would be covered with a large rug and chairs set up around the area. The decorations would be simple: moss, stones, organic flowers that are free of pesticides, and energy efficient lighting ("Hosting eco-friendly events," 2012). The diagram
