Americans know “racial profiling is both morally wrong and ineffective”, but they rather be safe than sorry (Chavez 563). Americans only get the idea that all middle easterners are terrorists because media has taken the role of portraying them in such a way to plants terror in Americans (Spurlock). People have gotten to the point of people being “singled out” because of looking certain way or because people around them feel uncomfortable (Chavez 569).
Should citizens be allowed to carry? Are the weapons themselves truly dangerous or is it the person wielding it? These questions and a slew of others have been pondered by both sides of this ongoing controversial debate but to no avail neither side has mutually agreed on answer to those questions or solutions to the issue itself. With steady increases in horrific mass murders such as the most recent Sandy Hook and the Denver Movie Theater shootings gun control has once again been thrown into public eye and with them becoming more frequent a solution to prevent such tragedies is demanded by the American people. But how can we accomplish such a feat?

The movie touched many sensitive subjects, the main one being Guns and everything related to guns. The War in Iraq Isn’t it interesting how the media portraits the war in Iraq? It’s always the negative points and never the good ones. There is so much disbelief and lying about our military and government that it is disgusting! Everyone believes that this war is pointless and stupid, however it needed to be done to make an example! The United States is the strongest government in the world and the media puts it down so very hard.
It seems that frequently after a gun related tragedy gains national attention, there is an attempt to discuss what, if anything, we can do to address gun related violence in the United States. It’s a hard question to answer and one I have not fully formed an opinion about. Guns fundamentally change certain dynamics of violence. For example, they allow the weaker individual to fight the stronger, they allow violence to be committed from a distance, and they allow it to be instant. It is these changing dynamics that too often go unanswered in the discussion of a tragedy.
Just the idea of this is astounding. Legalization of steroids should happen. Radley Balko from the debate says "So what is this debate really all about? I'd suggest it's about paternalism, and it's about control. We have a full-blown moral panic on our hands here, and it's over a set of substances that, for whatever reason, has attracted the ire of the people who have made it their job to tell us what is and isn't good for us.
Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore’s award winning documentary of 2002, Bowling for Columbine, sets out to determine why America has such a high rate of domestic gun violence. Cunningly exploiting interview techniques when speaking with Marilyn Manson, Moore attacks the news media, suggesting a prevailing culture of fear which exists among the American public. Similarly, in another interview with Matt Stone, the director highlights the interviewee’s sense of trust and power, this time confronting the fatal flaws which are evident among the American government and education systems. The director conducts interviews in order to aid his portrayal of different groups and individuals. When Moore conducts interviews with people whom he intends to foreground as trustworthy and intelligent, the atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back.
How does Michael Moore use the techniques of Satire in Bowling for Columbine to achieve his purpose? By using film techniques such as irony, juxtaposition and sarcasm, in a remarkably powerful way, Moore leads the audience through a deeply emotional and informative journey in his film, bowling for Columbine. He clearly highlights the flaws in American society and the terrible fact, that American gun culture is based upon fear which is leading to the knocking down of much of their society. Through these techniques, Moore invites the viewer to reflect on the values and attitudes about human frailty and depravity and to question whether the gun laws in America need to be altered. Moore outlines the flaws in American society simply by using juxtaposition as a technique of satire.
Gun Control There is a terrifying, indisputable lack of firearms control in America. This is one of the most debated issues today, however the way American people approaches this problem is as negligent as criminals. The aberration that surrounds this issue is misuse and misinterpretation of the Second Amendment. Often enough, the argument boils down to the Second Amendment which states citizens have the right to bear arms which has resulted in the crime rates and murders to skyrocketing because the people who commit these crimes have control of firearms.
