I want to build caring, trusting relationships with my patients and their families as well as play a positive role in their health outcome. All patients are different. I will try to individualize care for each of my patients so their personal, emotional, and physical needs can be met. I value each patient as an individual and respect his or her needs and dignity. My goal is to empower each patient to be active in their care and more knlowlagable about their disease process in to improve patient outcomes.
Caring for patients defines who nurses are and represents the art within an ideal professional nurse. The goal is for nursing to exist as a satisfying profession and not just another job. Watson’s theory is unique because it reflects essential elements for the patient and the nurse. She believes her theory benefits the patient because the nurse learns how to ease the patient’s anxiety and fear when suffering from an illness and enhance the patient’s self-esteem as he or she promote effective healing. The nurse also benefits because he or she expands his or her own self actualization as he or she uses Watson’s theory.
Not only do you post the code of ethics on the door but also it is represented by actions and words. Employees are the representation of the entity. Compliance of the ethical code by moral decision-making, attitude, personality, preservation of patient rights and confidentiality is important to promote confidence and a positive reputation within the healthcare community and

I believe that the core of nursing is to provide quality nursing care while taking into account the patient and their family member’s beliefs, customs and traditions. Treating each patient compassionately and empathetically regardless of their color, race and nationality. Nightingale believed that her nursing career was a calling from God. She utilized her attributes of love, compassion and veracity to promote quality care of the patient. Nightingale proved to be a provider of care, as she integrated holistic human needs in the provision of safe and effective nursing care. The holistic approach to medicine attempts to treat both the mind and the body. I thoroughly believe that a person’s social, mental, and physical conditions all contribute to the healing process.
People trust and depend on nurses, and I will have the ability to win their trust and become their healer. My main focus will be caring for people, I agree with Nightingale’s theory of nursing; she focused on caring and helping people coping with their environment and situation (Potter, Perry, Stockert, & Hall, 2011, p. 44). Also, I highly agree with Peplau’s theory, this theory emphasizes the importance of patient and nurse interpersonal relationship and determines its importance for caring patient (Potter et al., 2011, p. 44). These two theory guides me to achieve my values and belief towards nursing which are altruism which is a act of selfless care and developing strong bond between my patient and me helps my patients become dependable and make me accountable and responsible towards them. My definition of nursing has not changed; it is basically caring for people and being able to connect
A professional nurse is one who puts the needs and importance of patient care above all others. The professional should exert a positive public image considering the public is where services are directed to. A professional appearance is important for making first impressions on patients and other coworkers. The first impression is always of utmost importance and plays a major role in gaining a patient’s respect and trust. Once the nurse has began establishing a relationship with their patient, they must be careful to not pass or show any judgment on a patient’s decisions, beliefs, values, or culture.
Therefore, treating all patients fairly is an ethical duty of the hospital and staff with respect to values and beliefs. It is also imperative to follow the chain of command and assist the family together with the assigned nurse in assessing the need for medical attention and at the same time acknowledging the wishes of the family
