The American Dream can be described in millions of ways by millions of people. Some people achieve said American Dream and some fail in attempting to achieve it. Two examples of this are Austin Carlile and Jonny Craig. Austin is one hundred percent successful in his journey in achieving the American Dream, while Jonny Craig has failed miserably in his attempt, if he has even tried to attempt, to achieve this “Dream”. Anyone can com4 from a different walk of life and is able to go from nothing to becoming successful in whatever they choose, whether it be singing, painting, being a businessman, a lawyer, absolutely anything. On the other end of the spectrum, people can come from anything and fail in what they try to achieve. Most turn to drugs,…show more content…
Austin was bullied throughout most of his childhood and into his highschool years. He used that anger towards his bullies and put it into what he loved, music. He also would go and volunteer at nursing homes, trying to be better than those who stooped so low to harm him. When Austin was seventeen years old his mother passed away from a rare genetic disorder. He was at work when he got the call that she was in the hospital but it was too late. This was a huge blow for Austin. He looked up to his mother and loved her more than anything; he still loves her to this day. Years later, in 2005 he joined the band Attack Attack and that was when his music career began.In 2009 he left Attack Attack and started a new project, Of Mice & Men. He signed a contract and joined Rise Records, recruiting his new bandmates, Jaxin Hall, Valentino Arteaga, Shayley Bourget, and Phil Manansala. In 2010 Austin found out he needed to have a “valve sparing aortic root replacement" surgery. Which, in short, is an open heart surgery he needed so he could perform and tour with his band.
