FIGHTING HATE “Hate crimes are crimes committed against a specific race and ethnic group. Victims are targeted because of their race and ethnicity. The first recorded "hate crime" occurred in 1922. Two people were kidnapped, tortured and murdered while thousands more received threats to their person. The KKK and other racist organizations committed thousands between 1922-2006. Social upward mobility is what every United States citizen hopes for, and past discriminations on any one race, religion, or ethnicity will put a hold on achieving this status. Stereotyping and prejudice play a huge role in working your way up the ladder in the workforce and in society because if this mindset already exists at the top then be sure that a lot if not everything below will be tainted. People need to start seeing others for who they are and not what has happened in the past or what skin color they are, or even how they choose to live their
