Yes, the play was appropriate for both the actors and the audience. There was a lot of humor that only adults could relate to, which made the play humorous. Was the play worth doing? Yes, I definitely thought the play was worth doing. I am glad that I participated in Theatre class this year because the class is the reason why I went to the musical, and I came out of the musical comedy with no regrets.
OF MICE AND MEN. Throughout my years of high school, I read several good and bad books. One day we were told to read “Of Mice And Men” by John Steinbeck and I thought the book overall was one of the best books I have read in a while. Like all great books, they usually turn into a movie. Director Gary Sinese was thrilled to read such a book and wanted to make a movie about Of Mice And Men, but Gary Sinese had a different prospective and wanted to create an idea of his own which made viewers had different thought and feelings between the movie and the book.
I chose to watch the movie A Hard Day’s Night. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film! I wanted to try and pick an earlier movie of them so it would go along with what we are learning in this class. I felt it really captured the energy and charisma of The Beatles in their early years. Their playful enthusiasm brought out the innocence of the early sixties and took me back to that time period when everything was all good.
In The Lion King the theme of revenge is shown through the actions of Simba who returns to defeat Scar and avenge his father’s death by taking revenge on Scar. The theme of revenge is also a driving factor of the plot in the film as it initiates Simba's return. Simba is also visited by his father’s ghost who establishes the theme and desire for revenge in Simba, and presents it as a theme in the film. The characters in The Lion King and Hamlet are erringly similar to each other but Hamlet and Simba posses the most similarities. In Hamlet, Hamlet is the protagonist of the story and is unaware of how his
In the Lion King, Scar kills his brother Mufasa by throwing him into a wild stampede. He then tells everyone that the king was killed but the stampede which is only half the truth. This false statement of the truth is found in the play Hamlet when Claudius pours poison into Old Hamlet’s ear and kills him but then tells the people that it was a serpent that bit him and poisoned him. Both of these statements are only half true. Another way death is seem to parallel in both the Lion King and in Hamlet is that when Timone and Pumbaa find Simba, Simba wishes he was dead, and half-heartedly tries to kill himself.
This theory fits really well with Love Actually because all the characters in this movie are trying to make sense of what is happening to them. Implicit Personality Theory is your unique set of beliefs and hypothesis about what people are like (Beebe, p. 68) and it fits really well in this movie, because there is one character that I think is a great example that shows what his beliefs are. Common Sense Theory is something happens, an emotional reaction happens and then a physiological reaction happens (Beebe, p. 42). There are many great examples of this as well, but one particular example is with Sarah (Curtis, 2003). The last one is Systems Theory.
The dead king’s sons (Simba and Hamlet), the protagonists, despise the kings and do not really know what they had to do with their father’s death. With the boosting help of an outside force they take up the courage to confront and successfully vow their father’s revenge. The ghost motive plays a key role in both stories, when the spiritual form of the protogonist’s dead fathers appear, but there are differences. In Hamlet, Hamlet’s father reveals that it was Claudius who killed him. In The Lion King, Mufasa convinces Simba to reclaim the kingdom.
This is many years and decades away from the time The Lion King was released (1994); taken away the fact that one is animated with a herd of African wildlife and the other with humans, they seem to mimic each other in the message within the stories. There is more than one comparison but the most obvious is the plot. In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, a character named Hamlet Jr. (or young Hamlet) discovers his uncle, Claudius, is responsible for the death of his father, Hamlet Sr. (Old Hamlet). Young Hamlet then makes it his responsibility to avenge his father’s murderer. The overall summary of Hamlet is that there is an easy and unbalanced political unrest after the demise of Old Hamlet.
They can be put into contrast because of Brutus’ assassination as well as his response to his actions as being noble and selfless. Both these characters have the same motives but also are endowed with differences when it comes to these characters feelings. Brutus and Mark Antony can be compared due to that they are characters who are very close to Caesar and love him. These characters both prophesize on how much they care for Caesar and his past rein. Brutus is the first to recognize his love for Caesar: “If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesar’s, to him I sat, that Brutus’ love to Caesar, was no less than his” (Act3Sc2Ln18-20).
The Danish watcher says to Beowulf, “I believe your words, I trust in your friendship” (line 202). This quote shows that even those who don’t know Beowulf can tell he is a loyal person. The King, Hrothgar, shows his trust in Beowulf by saying, “Our only help, again, lies with you” (line 442). He possesses unfaltering loyalty to his king and allies and they all show him the same devotion. Another character trait of Beowulf is his physical strength.
