Environmental Scavenger Hunt 1. Locate a common area where residents may gather. Where: Common Area Furniture: Circular Tables, Chairs, Couches, and Entertainment Stand Every floor within the facility has a common area on every floor for residents to gather and socialize. These rooms include a television, V.C.R., D.V.D player, and radio for entertainment. This is also the location of daily activities. 2. Locate a resident room. Décor: Each room included sets of beds, chairs, dressers and an entertainment stand for every resident. Lighting: The lighting included a ceiling light and may residents seem to also have a table lamp available for their own personal use. Locate 4 different environmental cues to help orient the residents. - Smells from the dining room can help orient to the clients toward this room during meal time - There are signs above every door to inform the residents of what’s inside every room - The elevators alarm rings to inform resident of the amount of time they have to exit and enter - The bulletin boards located on every floor were visual cues of the residents to remember the date, events of the day and there location. 10. Locate an outdoor area for use by residents: What is it? There is not an outside area for residents at this facility, but when the weather permits it, the residents go out for local activities within the community and other engage in other leisure activities, such as going out for dinner at a chosen restaurant. 11. Identify an alarm sound you hear. No alarm sounds were heard while I was present. 12. Identify a smell you came across.
