At the start of the quarter, my instructor, Stephanie asked me to write a paragraph about my goal in the end of this class, English 101, although I hated writing a lot, but I still wrote that I wanted to be a "good writer." At that time, when I was using the words "good writer," I did not completely have any definition about it. I only wanted to get the average score to pass this subject. However, through this quarter, now I've known what it is defined and how to be a good writer as well. From the first to the last essay, my writing skills are getting better and better time by time. Key words, thesis statement, summarizing, and response, are the first important steps that I have learned and improved. At first, I thought there has no difference between thesis statement and topic sentence, because both of them are all about the main ideas of the text. However, they are really different, one is about main idea of paragraph, and the other one is used for the whole essay. It was extremely hard for me, writing briefly but easily to understanding. After three essays, I got some of your positive comments for my thesis statements. In the summary and response essay "Women, the Victim of War and Feudal Society" I wrote:"Through this interview, I completely understand what she said and who she wanted to be as well. Otherwise, one thing makes me feel uncomfortable when she said, 'I American now.'" You said that you were looking forward to reading my response. I was really surprised, and I knew you let me know that I am getting better through each essay. From these essay and your recommendations, I became more confidence and believed in myself to write.
