The overall outward appearance has a modern home look to it due to the material, angles and colors used being similar to those seen in many suburbs across America. Once inside the store there is wood flooring with many tables and chairs comfortably arranged for any visitor to sit and relax. Tables are often pushed together with several chairs surrounding them from a group that has already come and gone. Other chairs are gathered around a coffee table with a newspaper on it as if its contents were being discussed by friends. The environment in this space is very calming.
One of the main attractions of these exhibits is two murals from the ancient Mayan city-states. During my visit to the museum, I had the chance to explore these murals. In 1985 Johnson Burgee Architects began to build the LaSalle building. In 1987 it was finally completed. The architects were inspired to build the 190 South LaSalle building after the likes of the Masonic Temple. Like the Masonic Temple, 190 South LaSalle is known for its gabled roof that can be seen from miles away. Identity A. American Me, by Ninfa Miranda-Maloney B. “American Me”, by Ninfa Miranda-Maloney is a wonderful poem written about a man that has emigrated from Mexico to America. His identity is built in this poem through his ethnic, racial, and social class experiences. His ethnic identity is identified, from the use of language and how he is being described, “this tirilon ranchero watermelon-eating Mexicano from the valley of Guadalupe”.
