NARRATIVE AND ANALYTICAL REFLECTION OF EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE –ESSAY 1 Education is seen as a beacon for any nation or individual striving to be successful and make a change. As a growing child, I attended a school where students sat on the floor while the teacher stood to teach. I had no shoes, and I walked twenty kilometers every day to school and my uniforms were made with many old coats sewn together. I grew up in an environment with dilapidated infrastructures that lacked basic amenities such as good roads, electricity and pipe-borne water. I was the fourth among the five boys in my family. Growing up was Herculean, because the gap between my parents having money and not having money was as wide as River Nile. My dad, a poor carpenter working with G. Cappa Nigeria Limited, while my mother was a janitor working with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. I lacked so-many good things that the wealthy kids had with the exception of education and focus. I still try hard to save every dime given to me. In the midst of wanting, life turned worse on a dime as my dad was retrenched from service; the hope of going to school became the biggest illusion I ever had. Determination became the armor I wore to school every day. This determination did not allow the circumstances to drag me down. It forced me to become a gardener at age 8, after school I worked at least four hours doing general cleaning in my client's house. Every penny I earned was saved for my schooling and I was able to support my parents by contributing 40% of my pay to my school fees. I continued working hard from elementary school till I graduated from the high school and obtained good grades. At age 18 I graduated from high school with the fear of an uncertain future. I remained focused with my dream of getting a job in a hotel. I started working with Sugo-Dom Hotels as a Sales
