A balanced diet means getting the right types and amounts of foods and drinks to supply nutrition and energy to maintain body cells. Over eighty percent of Americans are overweight because they are not eating a balanced diet. We cannot live without food. It plays a such crucial role in our health. It does not matter how many miles a person runs, how many exercises a person does if he is not eating a balanced diet, exercise is not really going to make any difference. A balanced diet has three major effects: better physical health, better mental health, and a better self-image. The first effect of eating a balanced diet is better physical health. If people eat a right balanced diet, their muscles will be strong. In addition, they feel alive and active to manage more challenges. They will be in shape and fit, and their bodies have the ability to fight diseases. Furthermore, they can perform on their jobs better if they are eating the right diet. If a person's job involves physical activity, he can perform his job better than a person who does not eating a balanced diet. On the other hand, people who do not eat a balanced diet suffer from diseases. Eating a good diet regularly will help people stay healthy. The second effect of eating a balanced diet is better mental health. Everybody knows that proper diet and nutrition are good for the body, but few are aware of how important eating a balanced diet is for mental health as well. In addition, if a person is healthy, he can think more clearly. Furthermore, a healthy diet can make him happy. On the other hand, People who do not have a balanced diet may have some mental problems such as an ability to concentrate, depression, and memory loss. A
