Lincoln gives a speech to his soldiers before the battle. He gives this speech to ensure the soldiers because he was determined that the soldiers wouldn't die in vain and he shows a lot of respect towards the soldiers. Abraham Lincoln's speech had a purpose to it. "We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live." Abraham Lincoln gives this speech to ensure the soldiers.
Many people in my family have served in the Armed Forces, and when I brought this case up to them, they immediately assumed I would be on the dissenting side. They felt that the flag should be highly esteemed and cherished because of all of the men, and women, who have served and died under the flag for the good and protection of the United States, regardless of the country’s problematic history. The Armed Forces fight to allow the country to become a better place, not to explicitly carry out the country’s political agenda. My grandfather, who served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, agreed that people had the right to hold their own personal beliefs about the flag. However, he believes that this case is not simply about citizens disrespecting the flag, but that the case is about citizens disrespecting servicemen and servicewomen in the armed forces who place extreme value in the flag.
The citizens of the United States of America probably wouldn’t have their rights today, if soldiers hadn’t fought for America. Soldiers risked their lives and left their families by going to other countries. Everyone who fought or is still fighting for America is a military hero because they are a very important part of American history. Americans need to always honor their military heroes. People aren’t forced to join the armed forces; they volunteer.
In today’s society, our soldiers are known as heroes, whether they are returning to their loved ones or still out fighting the battle. They fight for our freedom and us as Americans acknowledge and appreciate that. My dad had brought up the fact that while he was in school there was a fear of Nuclear Attacks. There was no real degree on terrorist activity. The biggest fear people of that time had was again, the Nuclear Attacks, not terrorism.
Bearing true faith and allegiance is a matter of believing in and devoting yourself to something or someone. A loyal Soldier is one who supports the leadership and stands up for fellow Soldiers. By wearing the uniform of the U.S. Army you are expressing your loyalty. And by doing your share, you show your loyalty to your unit. By leaving physical training early I failed to support my leadership.
In serving my country, I am doing my duty loyally without thought of recognition or gain. The basic building block of selfless service is the commitment of each team member to go a little further, endure a little longer, and look a little closer to see how he or she can add to the effort. Honor- Living up to all the Army values. Honor is a matter of carrying out, acting and living the values of respect, duty, loyalty, selfless service, integrity and personal courage in everything we do.
The only thing someone should say the next time they look into a soldier's eyes is thank you. Thank you for being brave and risking your life so others don't have too. There definitely is pride in serving in the military. There's a sense of accomplishment, leadership, maturity, and pride in serving in our military. What better accomplishment then knowing that you defended your country?
Lincoln then shortly after says that we still have a great task ahead of us even though the Civil War is now over. What he was trying to say is that we must make sure these soldiers didn’t die for nothing, and that our country stay strong
People like this should be recognize and not ignored. They should be commended. I’m not just saying this because most of my family is retired military, I’m saying this because of the stories my grandfather have told me and even the stories my older brother has told me. They often don’t get the help they deserve when they get back from overseas. In help, I mean when they are traumatized by the stuff they have seen or/and done in while serving their country.
The U.S Soldier’s creed in which all U.S. army service men and women must memorize and recite says, “I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.” The American way of life that these soldiers protect daily is our freedom of choice. Some Americans choose to sit during the pledge. Some Americans choose to drive planes into buildings. Some Americans choose to burn flags. Personally, I cannot see how a soldier can step another foot on to a battle field or ship to protect the rights of these Americans who choose to display such acts, that in my opinion, go against what America stands for.
