Using these solutions can help certain dire environmental consequences such as intensified greenhouse gases, depleted ozone layer, global warming, air pollution, and water pollution. The groundwork for this essay is an article by Monica Hesse titled “Buying Green Products Is an Inadequate Environmental Remedy”. As noted in the title, Hesse believes that people should not buy green products to improve the environment. Rather, they should reduce the amount of their purchases. Buying green would create a problem of consumerism which in turn would create environmental problems.
They try to gain our consideration by emphasizing that as good neighbors they care about the environment by being “Green”. This means they maximize the natural light, use LED lighting and use recycled materials because it is good for our planet. Good for our neighborhood and good for our budget. In their website Tim Mason, who is the CEO of fresh & easy says, “We are trying to set global example by measuring and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, helping to stimulate the development of low carbon technology and by empowering consumers by providing them with choice, value and information”. By using this quote, fresh & easy is playing with our wishes of having a better place to live and to leave for future generations.
Many of the aquatic invertebrates are responsible for keeping the ecosystem clean by feeding on litters. Extinction of theses invertebrates would totally disrupt the balance of the ecosystem. The aim of this study is to bring awareness about the harmful impact global warming has on the local aquatic invertebrates and on the ecosystem at a global scale. The hypothesis for this study is that the biotic diversity of the slow moving water and fast moving water are driven by abiotic factors. To support this hypothesis, three predictions were made.
I have learned that the use of toxic chemicals during the fracking process and the occurring release of toxic chemicals and radioactive materials during well processing is bad for the environment. Such as, Naphthalene, Xylene, Toluene, Methylbenzene, and Formaldehyde, are all known or suspected to be human carcinogens (Schmidt). Also Hydraulic fracking hurts the environment by the contaminating the water wells, and springs, in which many humans and animals drink from. Another environment impact of hydraulic fracturing is air pollutions. Finally the way fracking impacted animal and human health.
Over consumption has led to many cures and medicines being created, and has made the world a better and safer place then it once was. The Buy Nothing Day would only hinder the progress that mankind has made in keeping the environment intact. The way of life in the 21st century has and will be defined by consumerism. Consumerism has lifted nations out of recessions and created millions of jobs and opportunities. The Buy Nothing Day is just a way for environmentalists to voice their theories about how to fix the environment.
Fliers and newspaper ads are effective as well as word of mouth, and also contacting your local radio stations to help sponsor your business is a must. Make local churches and charities aware of your services, even if they don’t provide a medical service and send out information to food banks and utility assistance programs; anywhere low-income and uninsured people are likely to be. A great way to save money instead of costly advertising is to get some friends or relatives to volunteer by visiting different agencies to explain how opening a free clinic would benefit so many people. Although, this facility will provide quality, comprehensive medical care with the same dignity and confidentiality as a private sector does. It will serve as a non-profit organization to people who are trying to improve their lives but do not have medical insurance or the ability to pay for medical care.
Finally, they print on recycled paper and use soy inks. Conclusion Whole foods Market’s use Employees, Community and the environment as part of their sustainable future. It is very corrosive and causes severe burns. It is very harmful by skin contact or by inhalation of dust. This cocktail together is used for getting into the ground and then it contributes to global climate change creating air pollution. They argue that fracking harms the environment and can hurt other living species such as bird, and fish. All of this is true; however, natural gas is a cleaner burning fuel and it has other advantages.
Because they are hazardous. As in documentary they showed in an ad that fracking is safe. But what they mean by safe? If water, air and noise pollution are created by fracking then how it is safe! Fracking also created huge natural losses such as it crates pollution, destruction of forests to create its pipe lines.
Pollution Prevention Melissa D. Byerley ENV 325: Environmental Management Instructor Robin Glenn June 10, 2013 There are a variety of ways to prevent pollution including altering production or manufacturing processes, eliminating waste at the source, promoting the use of non-toxic or less-toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques, reusing materials or items, and population control; which can all work simultaneously for a better world, but issues such as political processes and policies create a hindrance. The many ideas surrounding pollution prevention are quite often simple, but due to economic impacts, these options are not always favorable because worldwide governments want the most successful economy possible, and
