Many people feel aborting an unwanted child, or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. I feel that even though it is the woman’s body, she is carrying another body inside of her. It is not her own life that she is taking.
She requested information about the morning-after pill and was denied such information being that the hospital was Catholic. In addition, she was never told that in order for the pill to be effective she would have to take it within 72 hours (Ascension Health, 2007). For a rape victim this is a huge issue, is not enough that her innocence was taken, but the choice of deciding whether or not she would want to keep an unwanted child. Furthermore, she would have to conduct an abortion because the hospital staff denied her of her rights, leaving her with the guilt of killing that child and being raped. Legally, hospitals and staff should do what is in the patient’s best interest.
Richard Noa Being a rape victim myself makes me see abortion in a complete different way from those who are pro-life. I used to think abortion was wrong, up until the day my childhood was robbed; I was only a twelve-year-old. I have had endless conversations and arguments with too many people over this topic. It is such a sensitive conversation, but no one will ever understand why a rape victim would support abortion until someone puts themselves in our shoes. The authors show great deal of bias to support their cause. The facts I feel did not look at why people choose to have abortion but that it is a sin and is against God. Women today choices these options as a last resort not something that is done without great deal of thought.
