The Whites believed that after killing an enemy it was disrespectful and unlucky to touch a dead enemy. Whereas the Indians believed that scalping an enemy would shame them and would not be allowed into the afterlife, so could not have revenge in the afterlife. Another difference in warfare was the Whites would have long wars and campaigns until the enemy was vanquished or a peace treaty was signed. Indian wars would be different. They wouldn’t go to war as a
Divorce is consiered a serious matter to most people, worldwide, regardless of race or religion. However, there are always religions and cultures which put a particularly large spotlight on divorce, and view it in great disgust. Most religions such as Islam, Christianity and Judaism have put divorce as a last resort for a married couple and even then give chances for the couple to reunite. Religious people should have the choice to be able to get divorced, if they wish so. Religion is already something that gives people rules, regulations and restrictions to live by; however, divorce is a thing which can determine who you spend the rest of your life with and is so important that everyone should have the choice to make that decision.
“…whose indignation is based on the assumption that if they had been in Joe Paterno’s shoes, or assistant coach Mike McQueary’s shoes, they would have behaved better, They would have taken action to stop any sexual assaults.” (Brooks, Paragraph I). This is similar to Abigail’s case because if Paterno or McQueary had said anything about the scandal, it would have ruined their reputation because they would have said something way too late after too many victims were abused. Even though Abigail spoke out about something and Paterno and McQueary kept quiet about something, they were still for the same reason. The next connection between The Crucible and “Let’s All Feel Superior” is that in both of the events taking place, people tried to blame the results on an outside force. In The Crucible, when Betty seems to be dying, Mr. Putnam wants to blame the suffering on God.
The Tragic Yakima Wars Did refusing the treaty that Americans tried to force on the Plateau Indians hurt them severely? My position is that yes, the Plateau Indians made a very bad decision when they refused the treaty by the United States, I feel more Indians would have survived if they’d just moved on to the reservation like they were told to do. None of the Yakima Wars would have happened if the Indians would’ve gave up their land and went peacefully onto a reservation where their people did not have to engage in the war. The main cause of the conflict was the desire of the Americans to move west. If they hadn’t believed in Manifest Destiny, and the government and pioneers not wanted Indian territory, the treaty would have never been made and the Indians would not have had to retaliate.
Between 1785 and 1829, the cultures of Native Americans were greatly changed by American territorial expansion. Attempted reforms made by whites to change the Native American ways greatly altered their culture and way of living while expansion led to the loss of Indian land. American settlers attempted to reform the Native Americans by introducing them to Christianity and their reaction was "we only want to enjoy our own" religion (C). The Native Americans agreed that together that this could not be imposed on them without full consent by stating "any sale not made by all is not valid"(D). They believed that "the white people have no right to take the land from the Indian, because they had it first; it is theirs"(D).
Source 3 takes a more deep routed approach when explaining the main cause and comments on how the caste system has led to dissatisfaction within the seapoys. This source subtly points towards religious differences being a problem your religious purity aided towards what caste you were then set in. An area of agreement between all 3 sources is that they all comment on triggers of the Indian mutiny 1857, they also suggest that it was in fact religious differences where the most important cause. Source 1 questions the ‘vaunted purity’ of a Brahman ( an important religious figure) about the cartridges and if he were to ‘tear these open with
The main idea of the story was that you really can't judge people by their color, they are all going to the same place when they die. Many people don't think of this in depth even though it is very important. The burgher people had something against the kapirs, mostly because of the skin color. Being racist does not solve anything, only death and cruelty. The burgher people were the middle class german and dutch people, morely so the whites, while the kapirs were the more islamic, poorer people, just trying to make themselves something in their life.
The similar objectives they both experience that are heritability entitled for them to feel guilt for, would be, for example, killing a person. It is never acceptable in the United States to commit a crime of killing another human. The legal laws in America would sentence both, Christians or Atheists, to prison if they were to commit such a crime. In extension, Christianity also has in the Ten Commandments telling them, “thy shall not kill.” The legal laws would send a murderer to prison, therefore this punishment would leave both groups remorseful for their actions. Atheist may feel their punishment is complete once they served their sentence, but since Christians believe taking someone’s life is committing a sin; they therefore question the likelihood of their soul entering into heaven.
The act effectively abolished the legislation previously passed by territorial legislature relative to polygamy. ‘The Mormons appeared to many federal officials as unworthy of the privilege to govern themselves.’ (Brigham pg. 163.) The ideals and practices professed by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young ran counter to the majority of the population and would now forever be ridiculed or prohibited. The beliefs of Brigham Young and the Latter-day Saints had been challenged for thirty years.
There are many reasons I don’t believe in the death penalty. For one thing, I don’t believe it helps the survivors, who grieve. Executions in my view focus more on revenge then anything and doest even focus on healing. If anything it makes another family go through what the victim’s family went though. Why would anyone willingly want to do that to another person?
