TDA31-1.1Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. Effective communication is fundamental in building positive relationships with children, young people and adults alike. When working with children, young people and adult’s communication is the most important thing to building a positive relationship. Having good communication skills will help us develop better relationships especially with younger people. Some students who lack in confidence may find it hard to communicate at all with us, so if we come across to that student in a positive and gentle manner they are more likely to open up to us and talk.
• Active and attentive listening. In order to achieve this we must maintain eye contact and not become distracted. We must also show non-verbally that we are listening by nodding or agreeing appropriately. For example if you are listening but also busy doing something else and repeatedly looking away this will give the other person the impression that you are not interested. Children need our full attention and eye contact in order to develop and maintain positive interaction which will lead to positive relationships.
A resilient child loves well, plays well, works well and expects well, of which allows them to flourish in life despite circumstances. If children are resilient they will be healthier, happier and live a more fulfilling life, whilst also less likely to develop emotional problems such as depression and anxiety. The good news is we can assist children in becoming more resilient. It is very important being resilient yourself, don’t pretend not to have problems but rather show that you’re able to cope and still get on with enjoying life. Children need to be treated as individual’s also remembering good communication of your concern and interest is essential to the child, also of importance is being honest about how you feel of which will show children that expressing your emotions is ok.
Explain why effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with Children Young people Adults Ans: Importance of effective communication with Children Communication is a key factor in developing positive relationships with human beings, the importance of effective communication with children can never be denied. Being a teaching assistant ,you have to model yourself in a best possible way to communicate with children as they learn and absorb your methods of communication. In order to develop and maintain positive relationships with children ,I have to communicate politely and clearly so that they can understand me. By using simple vocabulary and positive body language I can get their attention more easily and my friendly approach would make me trustworthy for them and they can discuss their problems or share their ideas with me. For example,in my placement,my friendly and polite attitude towards reception children makes it easy for them to bring their complaints to me;if they are hurt or hit by somebody.
Every child is different, so some may need more support than others; this is why observations are important. Positive communication is very important as this can help build a Childs interaction skills, self esteem and confidence. It’s vital you always have eye contact with that child, and allow them to finish what they are saying. In order to boost their self esteem a child should always be praised, this will make them feel more confident and willing to try. Adapting the environment to help children with their speech and language needs can be done by using visual signs that children can understand, for example you could label the home corner, dress up area, book corner and so on.
They will also be less likely to show unwanted behaviour because the carer will be able to recognise their needs and meet them. Positive relationships will help a practitioner plan more accurately, they will know what the child’s development needs are and plan for them. If the practitioner and the child have a positive relationship the practitioner will be able to read the child’s expressions and respond appropriately. Renouf (2007) maintains that children are influenced by what they see around them. In other words, they are influenced by their role models.
028 Develop positive relationshiops with children, young people and others involved in their care Outcome 1 1. Positive relationships with children are extreamly important because it builds their trust in people and their self confidence. Positive relationships with children are built and maintained by creating a welcoming atmoaphare, making sure that communication with the child is effective (the preactitioner should spend time getting to know the child, her preferences in play, food etc. and what her learning needs are), being consistent and fair, showing respect and coustesy, looking at the holistic child-not the different parts, good role modeling, encouraging friendships and monitoring impact of own behavior on others. 2.
Maintaining a relationship with someone is very important also as it keeps you in contact with others. It keeps you in touch with the feelings and needs of others, which is essential in any functional relationship. This is very important when working with children as you need to be informed as to their needs, in order to have a happy work environment. Again, I believe this leads back to the issue of trust. If children can approach you with a problem (without hesitation) then I would class this as a good relationship.
Effective preschool classrooms are places where children feel well cared for and safe. They are places where children are valued as individuals and where their needs for attention, approval, and affection are supported. They are also places where children can be helped to acquire a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills needed for school success. Research shows beyond question that it is through having many opportunities to talk as well as to listen to teachers and peers that children gain language skills so valuable for their success in reading and writing. The more children know about their world, the easier it is for them to read and learn when they get to school.
Outcome 1.2 Explain current theoretical approaches to creativity and creative learning in early childhood. Creativity is more about the process rather than the end product. This process is useful for many reasons like develop confidence, good relationships, find out what talents do they have and teaches us about what can we give it to others. It helps children to have positive experiences and develop important abilities like Collaboration- being happy to work together Concentration- focusing on what they are doing Communication and language- developing good communication through talking, listening and writing Developing good relationships- working together and making new friends Imagination- bringing ideas to life Physical activity- participating in activities that encourage movement Problem solving- being able to explore different solutions Outcome 1.3 Critically analyse how creativity and creative learning can support young children’s emotional, social, intellectual, communication and physical development.
