Stephenie Stevenson Christine Warrington ENG 202 NA 5 November 2013 The story Metamorphosis, demonstrates how we allow every day life to over take us to the point that we change into something that we are unable to identify. Gregror did everything for everyone, but nothing for himself. He didn’t enjoy life because he was too busy working at a job that he hated in order to pay off his parents debts and to take care of the household; while they did nothing to help or to show him any appreciation. This story also show how one can give their all and when they are in need of help those that he or she helped along the way will turn their backs with no regard to you. While I was reading, “Metamorphosis”, it made me view life in a different way, and made me come to a decision of taking time out for myself in order to enjoy every essence of being me, and not neglect myself.
There is nothing he can do about it until Monday, leaving him the whole weekend to contemplate his possibilities. This situation makes his reminisce about his own fathers passing of cancer harder because all he remembers is how much pain he suffered and the guilt that he wasn’t there while he was dying. When he mentions this to his mother her reaction is the most important quote in the film, “It doesn’t matter how he died, your father’s death was not the sum of his life, it doesn’t matter how life ends it matters how it was.” Nick’s life had been carefree, his work as a photographer had enabled him to travel around the world with no responsibilities. This changed when he had come back home to help out his mother and as he mentions, “I hung round cose I was a bit worried about mum, I even brought a place as an investment for the future. I thought I would live in it for awhile before I go back overseas.” This quote lets us know that in truth Nick is really looking for someone to share his life with and offer his him support whilst dealing with his cancer.

Artie feels that he will never live up to his parent’s expectations of Richieu, because he was never in the War. An example of this is shown on the last page of the graphic novel, where Vladek turns over to go to sleep and calls Artie, Richieu. “I’m tired from talking, Richieu, and it’s enough stories for now…” The way Spiegleman has represented this in the text suggests to the reader that Vladek never fully loved Artie, as much as he loved his first son Richieu. This has obviously had major impacts on Arties life, and it has all primarily been caused by the Holocaust, because Vladek and Anja never fully healed after the Holocaust. Although ‘The Complete Maus’ is based around the interviews that Spiegleman has conducted with his
There are a lot of people that will never reach my heart because they have not gone through all of my layers to get there. You have to do the work to get the reward as I look at it. Ever since I was younger getting to know me was always challenging. I am not the type of person to open up to you and tell you how I feel. I am very shy when it comes to first meeting people.
Mario Ivan Alvarado Personal Statement As many people, I've gone though tons of experiences that built the person I am today. I feel the things that really impacted my life is sports. Football for example, I use to never do my homework or study or get involved in any school type functions. But thanks to sports I've really turned myself around. During freshman year I never kept track of anything, except for friends.
Being an RA/CA will help improve me being much more responsible with a job. Whenever I have a job I am responsible. But I feel as though I can never be more responsible. I take any job I have seriously. I hope to be a great asset to the school.
Change They say when people get out of jail they view the world different. My best friend just got out and he was strangely the same with slight changes. I remember how he was in high school but I don't know how to act around him anymore. He's more laid back, watchful and full of thoughts. Before he was energetic and didn't pay attention to anything that had nothing to do with him.
Getting Inked I knew I wanted a tattoo after I watched my brother get his first one. He was sixteen and my mom had to bring him in because my dad wanted nothing to do with it. He didn’t hate tattoos; he just thought they weren’t worth permanently marking your body for. I was thirteen when my brother got his tattoo, so I had a good amount of time to decide what I wanted to get. I ended up going through many ideas.
