Though body language is not the same. One thing I’ve noticed is people who act, lie for the sake of their character, but a liar just lies for him or herself. In order to act one must act, speak, and think like their character would. However a liar tries way too hard to be themselves, only accomplishing nothing. When an actor is trying to be a personality that is so far from their own, you begin to catch on.
Actors do not wish to harm anyone with their illusions. When liars produce an illusion it is more often, than not, for their own purposes. They may not necessarily wish to harm the person they are lying to, and perhaps only wish is to spare the other person's feelings or avoid conflict. The liar does not want to deal with things head on, and so he spins a web that covers the eyes of his "audience." Actors and liars both use the basic method of words and body language to get their point across to whoever is listening.
Iago who many people perceived to be an honest man when it couldn't be further from the truth and in Othello's cased it proved to be a deadly mistake for trusting him. It is very interesting in the way Iago was able to live such a drastic double life which I will explain in the way he did it by the way he presented himself, what made him so effective at manipulating people, why was his hatred for Othello so strong, and what do characters, besides Othello think of Iago. Iago was able to make create such an elaborate lie and execute his plan because of his pure hatred for Othello, this hatred was so great because there were multiple factors that were causing his ill will towards the Moor. Othello's appointing of Cassio as his lieutenant is what initially triggered these feelings towards him. There were several reasons Cassio's appointment enraged Iago to the point of madness, first Cassio was a Florentine and Iago found it despicable that a Florentine could and would be named lieutenant to the general of Venice.
Willy Russell uses superiority theory to engage the audience by creating comedy through the misfortune of others. The character of Frank is very cynical as he fails to see the good in anybody for a majority of the play and he believes that other people are motivated purely by self-interest. However, some people may argue that cruelty and cynicism are not at the heart of the comedy in the play and that the play could still be successful without these themes. One theme that could be seen as superior to cruelty and cynicism is culture and class because this theme causes confusion and misunderstanding between the two characters which as a result produces comedy. In the play ‘Educating Rita’ cruelty and cynicism feature a great deal.
Within the extremely popular play named ‘An Inspector Calls’ Priestly uses the play to expose the lies, deceit and overall hypocrisy of people during his time. Hypocrisy is usually demonstrated by virtue of pretending to have qualities or beliefs that you do not really have. In a literal sense, weakness is the state of lacking strength. However, Priestly portrays weakness as having personal defects or failings especially in lack of moral integrity. Again, Priestly shows wickedness somewhat detached from its literal meaning and instead shows wickedness in the characters departing from the rule of divine and moral law.
These characters are usually foiled in their obsessive attempts to manipulate the world, often through schemes that backfire. Because they adhere so firmly to their own narrow view of the world, a negative result is inevitable, and by play’s end they are made to look foolish. Mostly, the focal points of Molière plays attempt to victimize or control other characters through manipulative behavior, usually for personal gain. Due to an intense focus on the character’s “Achilles heel,” the audience’s field of vision expands, making the character’s capacity for ridiculous behavior seem as wide as a football field. In The Misanthrope, Molière portrays Alceste, a man who despises hypocrisy, and can do nothing but see all of society as corrupt.
The concept of acting and lying is trying to convince their audience, trapping them with the choice of words. They both are sneaky and impressing or convincing you is primarily the main thing that they care about. A liar can be a sensational actor, while an actor can be a sensational liar. A liar an actor may seem the same but they have different motives for the reason of their lies. An actor lies for the character that they are playing and a liar simply lies for themselves.
Thar. Experience 170 The Idiot “play analysis” In “The Idiot” I think Dostoyevsky was trying to show how twisted our society is, and how even a saint of a person is treated badly without deserve. I believe Dostoyevsky wrote this play with mostly realistic qualities, such as how people take advantage of “the nice guy” all the time with Prince Myshkin continuously being tricked by everyone he knew, and how the power of love makes you do crazy things with Rogozhin killing Nastasya even though he would have given anything to be with her. I thought most of the actors did a really good job. I did not like how some of the actors played double roles because in an already confusing play trying to follow “who is who” is not an easy task.
They invent a story and begin and play it over and over in their heads until they start to live the lie and become so involved in it that they do not know what is true or not. These people historically have a tendency of being mentally ill or end up going insane due to the lack of reality. It does not always have to be that drastic though. There are also times when people lie to themselves with simple unimportant lies and it becomes their mission in life to live up to the lie. The most typical types of liars are those that lie to others.
Olivia also had her identity mistaken by her brother's best friend antonio. Viola said that she had no idea who he was and Antonio, still believing her to be Sebastian, rightfully got very angry and upset because he had considered sebastian as a good and loyal friend. This case of mistaken identity caused hurt feelings and confusion to those involved. Unlike the other cases of mistaken identity , this one had no humor purpose this incident is an interesting and more serious part of the play, which involves another mistake over Viola's identity. As a final summary, I think mistaken identity is a very important aspect of Twelfth Night: it provides humour, complications and interesting twists to the play.
