Introduction Decentralization also called departmentalization is the strategy of delegating decision-making authority down to the lower levels in a company. A decentralized organization shows fewer tiers in the organizational structure, wider span of control, and a bottom-to-top flow of decision-making and flow of ideas. Much of the decentralization has taken place in the past decade and motivated by political concerns. Now, decentralization is employed by many organization and become more popular because decentralization let the powers and the resources transferred from a higher level to a lower level. In a decentralized organization, management consciously attempts to spread authority to the lower organization levels. In most cases, decentralized organization make it possible for managers to control by themselves and that the manager of each unit of a business is on his or her own decision. Decentralization is seen as an issue as opposed to centralization strategy, which the head manager keep majority power and authorize little power to lower-level management. Many people believe that decentralization is an organization's form of freedom, also, decentralization brings greater awareness and sensitivity to individual and organization needs. There are variety of factors can influence the extent that a company is centralized or decentralized. The external environment of a company is more complicate and unpredictable, the more likely the top manager will let low-level managers make important decisions. Because in that situations, the low-level managers will closer to the problems and have direct contact with customers and workers. The decision itself is another factors. The riskier or the more important the decision, the greater the tendency to centralize decision making. No matter what strategy a company would choose, there have both advantages and problems
