My job title is ‘Apprentice Childcare Assistant’. The purpose of my job is to provide a safe and caring environment for the children left in our care whilst maintaining a professional appearance. I believe that each child is a unique individual and that all children can learn. Children will be encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment. Educating young children has always been an exciting career for me. I take much proud in my career being a good educator isn’t just about teaching children skill concepts, it also involve communicating and understanding the background of their family. Should companies offer on-site childcare facilities to their employees? We are living in a society where in order to survive, two-income households are virtually a necessity, but household chores and child rearing are still considered the woman’s responsibility. Men in society are still expected to work and provide. But what happens after a child is born? In American culture it is usually the mother who takes maternity leave to give birth, care for and bond with the child while she recuperates and her body heals. After a standard, and usually unpaid, 12 week leave, she usually will return to work, only to come home and take care of the household, and now also, care for her new baby.
