David Robert Joseph Beckham was born on May2, 1975, in Leytonstone, England. His Father Ted Beckham was a kitchen fitter, and his mother was a hairdresser. “Beckham has become the top fashion icon and inarguably one of the most celebrated and successful athletes of this era. Beckham is widely known for being influenced by his maternal grandfather’s Jewish religion. . He has a tattoo written in Hebrew from the “Song of Songs” in the Hebrew Bible, and has always showed consideration of others who may feel uncomfortable due to their beliefs by playing in a long sleeve shirt to cover up his tattoos. Leytonstone is a soccer-crazy city like most of the rest of England. David dreamed of playing professionally as a young boy. Through out his childhood he was a good player who stayed active in local leagues. David inherited his family’s love for the Manchester United soccer team. Buying birthday and Christmas gifts for him was simple. A soccer ball or jersey from his favorite team or a poster of the players he idolized was all he ever wanted. After a while is was rare to see David without a soccer ball. A talented all-around athlete, he played other sports, including rounders, baseball, basketball and rugby, but none could come close to his first love. When Beckham was a child he often played soccer in Ridgeway Park, Chingford. He developed into the club’s most talented scorer. His footwork, anticipation and ability to control the action were already evident at age eight. David was a tireless student, his powerful right leg attracted the most attention. He could propel the ball at speeds comparable to many adult players and had a particular gift for making his shots curl in the air. This caused defenders to lean the wrong way and made goalkeepers commit too soon. Scoring long, spectacular goals became David’s trademark. He made his soccer skills know at age 11 by winning
