When Barbara found out she was pregnant another time, she felt an abortion would be the best decision because she had little money to support her and her son already, and her mom said that she would not help her daughter with to have another baby. Barbara went through with the abortion, and even though she was set on the idea we could see that she was going through both physical and emotional pain both during and after the procedure. The story of Imaculee was also another insightful story. In this novel we learn that Imaculee was a young girl when the genocide in Rwanda broke out. The Hutu people were killing the Tutsis just because they were Tutsi.
Genetics can sometimes run in families is one cause to the start of mental illnesses. Infections, brain defects or injury, prenatal damage, substance abuse, and other factors are the other five factors to mental illnesses. Yates battled depression for years; the cause of her actions for drowning her children were caused by postpartum psychosis triggered by the improper use of her meds, not listening to what her doctor had to say after her treatment, and lack of knowing any coping techniques. Postpartum depression can take up to a year after the child’s birth before the mother would even notice any signs of depression. If left untreated it can have dire consequences.

The communication of the patients lack of compliance is that the mother did not call the doctor back to help clear up her questions and she jumped to conclusions and switched doctors and didn’t even try to get a hold of the doctor’s office for clarification.

As a result of the lack of medical intervention, they agreed to pay the family a fee of £1000 in total for compensation * I do however feel it is inevitable to say whether the incident could have been prevented or not. Immediately after Emily developed the measles. Her mother was unable to care for her because she had to protect herself the new baby from the disease. Emily didn’t recover from the disease as expected. She became thin and withdrawn, even more than she was before. Upon recommendations, she sent Emily to a convalescent home where she could be better cared for.
Helen Sumner, a mother of an unborn child, lies at Mercy Hospital in a comatose condition and is drawing a lot of unnecessary attention. Some (like journalist, Marcia Keaton) believe that Helen is dead and needs to be taken off life support immediately, which Keaton admits is keeping her alive. There are differing opinions on this situation and I feel the need to share my own. Marcia Keaton makes her views on this situation known by expressing her thoughts as it is. She doesn’t sugar-code any of the message and neither will I. Keaton’s main argument for taking Helen off the life support is that it costs too much money and the money can go to better causes than saving the unborn child’s life.
After Andrea Yates gave birth to her fourth child, she attempted suicide by taking an overdose of sedatives. Due to insurance issues Andrea Yates was discharged from the hospital and prescribed some anti-depressants in which she did not take. Andrea attempted suicide for a second time in which she held a knife against her throat. Andrea reported that she heard voices telling her to get a knife. She then began to cut causing harm to herself by cutting herself.
I walked to my patient’s room and saw the patient breathing with accessory muscles and said she didn’t know what was wrong but didn’t feel well. I listened to her lungs and found she now had crackles in all lobes of the lungs. The nurse who answered her call light was her first year as a Registered Nurse. The nurse did not listen to her lungs had only taken vitals. One extra step during an assessment saved that patients life.
The worst case is that the woman cannot give birth or even death at all. Many women are regretting around the world because what they do. Therefore why we choose abort when it takes away an unborn life and a woman take a high risk between sickness and death. Is it worth to risking your life?
