The Cuban culture believes that it is necessary to have this physical contact whenever you personally engage with an individual. It is very common for men to exchange hugs with those they know and most men and women include a kiss on the cheek for a more informal exchange of acknowledgement. The author Jean Rhys approaches the topic from the issue of race, cultural integration and heredity. She also toys with issues such as madness and ancestry. I cannot imagine living with such limitations in modern society. Allowing Cubans to travel oversees would not only grant them the simple freedoms and rights that all human beings should be entitled to in this world but also allow them to expand on their education by experiencing foreign cultures and customs from abroad. During my recent visit to Cuba, I was able to spend time with local citizens and discuss the current travel issues affecting them.
