Lorenzo, Michael Persuasion Argumentation Cause and Effect Research Cuban people should be allowed to travel abroad Imagine living in a country your entire life without ever having the opportunity to travel abroad. Envision yourself existing on an island from the time you were born and dreaming of vacationing in some faraway land you studied in school, knowing well that you will never get a chance to realize that dream. What if you wanted to visit relatives living in another country during this holiday season but were prohibited from doing so by your own government? You might think to yourself, is there such a country in this day and age? Is this ban on travel oversees for ordinary law-abiding citizens even legal? The answer is yes and yes! The Cuban population in general is not allowed to travel abroad. Travel restrictions imposed on these citizens are unreasonable and should be lifted immediately. I cannot imagine living with such limitations in modern society. Allowing Cubans to travel oversees would not only grant them the simple freedoms and rights that all human beings should be entitled to in this world but also allow them to expand on their education by experiencing foreign cultures and customs from abroad. During my recent visit to Cuba, I was able to spend time with local citizens and discuss the current travel issues affecting them. A young family from Old Havana had a genuine interest in discussing the topic and shared a wealth of information with me. The family of four had been living on the island their entire lives and had two young children. The younger of the two, a boy named Adrian, seemed to be affected emotionally with our discussion. He tried to pull himself together, but tears ran down his face as he explained that it was heartbreaking for him to interact with visitors from other countries and hear the children speak
