While theft and low income consumers bring the possibility of providing only moderate revenue gains, if not a loss, operating in impoverished areas can also be a source of growing potential for the business. Many companies advertise philanthropic missions, such as donating to charities every year or helping to provide for the families of their employees. While these are messages that consumers hear, a more powerful message can be the one that the consumers themselves see. Rather than closing down those stores, Company Q should focus on the reasons for the high crime, and offer ways to reduce that crime rate. Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population.

Even though plastics are the largest ingredients in our landfills, most of them can be recycled. It reduces the energy cost of making them from scratch again. They can also reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Since the first manufacturer can produce the treated lumber without any additional input, they have absolute advantage over the other manufacturer and can be a price setter within the domestic market. The other manufacturer is limited by the amount of lumber it can purchase but has a better treatment facility so it cost less for them to treat their lumber. In this sense the second manufacturer has comparative advantage in producing treated lumber but their resources are limited by how much is harvested within the domestic market and thus they are price takers. However, suppose America opened trade relations with South America, a country with relatively low population density with desperate need for medical supplies and computer technology but covered with deep thick jungles. This new source of lumber is cheaper to harvest due to the massive quantities that allow the second manufacturer to stop buying the limited amount of lumber within its domestic market.
Company Q could have made investments in the local community that would have potentially improved the community thus decreasing the crime rate. The investment in the community would also have had a residual effect. Consumers who may not have been purchasing from Company Q’s store might have decided differently if they liked the companies efforts in investing back into the community. If there was a community investment fulfilling the Philanthropic aspect of social responsibility it may not have been necessary to close the two stores.

Some of the differences in the toys range from: sizes to colors and even the structure of the toys and many more.
