We would work our full day of work then stay after and we had teams of employees that would load the records up on carts and then there were some on the computer and would put the RFID tag inside the chart in the back, then we would scan the label of the patient and then scan the tag. The records were then put back on the shelves and we were able to trace the record within an hour after putting them on the shelf. The shelves were geared with a device to receive a signal and then resend it back to the sender (computer) of the signal allowing the sender to verify the record was on the shelf. The next step was to train the other employees to use the system when looking for a medical record.
