1. Explain the purpose of the following types of assessment in learning and development • Initial Assessment • Formative Assessment • Summative Assessment Formative Assessment Initial assessment provides the information needed to plan an individual’s learning and improve their chances of learning effectively. Without it, there are only assumptions. It’s always possible to make some predictions about learners from an application form or selection test, but it’s an insecure basis for planning. Learners themselves bring assumptions about learning based on the past, and some of these may get in the way of looking ahead to a new way of learning.
Unit 301 1. Understand the principles and requirements of assessment An initial assessment of the candidates needs is required to take place before any formal assessment can take place. This is to determine whether the candidate is ready or not to be assessed. This can be done by talking with the candidate to find out about the best ways to gain the evidence to meet the criteria required. It will help plan the approach depending on such things as disability, language, prior learning and experience.
3.1.Evaluate own knowledge, performance and understanding against relevant standards. A common problem is not answering the question – you need to spend some time understanding each word in the question and make sure what you write is answering the question and just something you would like to say. Focus of Assignment and Structure Introductions These require a lot of care – the function of an introduction is to tell the reader what you are going to do – a very short summary of your answer, points you consider important, maybe some definitions – but it must give the reader some idea of where you are going. It provides criteria that the reader uses to judge whether you have achieved your goal – that is answer the question. Some writers launch straight into answering the question – leaving readers wondering where this roller coaster was going. To fix this 1. read other peoples introductions (and Abstracts), 2. identify what the argument is going to follow then read and see if you are correct.

The purpose of the formulation stage is to create an official example of the agreed decision. The formulation stage can be hard, and most of the time negotiation will be necessary before the policy can be written. When the policy is created, certain people must agree to

You should base them on the subject you want to improve in and take into consideration what skills you are already good at, what skills you need to work on, what factors could help you along the way, what factors might stop you from achieving your goals when trying to complete them. You will also need to identify the training necessary to achieve your targets and set a time scale to achieve them. By having a review date this allows you to have a time scale and also to see how much you have progressed in what time. Avii) Three people that could provide information and feedback for a PDP would be a manager, the residents and other professionals in the work place such as doctors or nurses.
