Unit 301 1. Understand the principles and requirements of assessment An initial assessment of the candidates needs is required to take place before any formal assessment can take place. This is to determine whether the candidate is ready or not to be assessed. This can be done by talking with the candidate to find out about the best ways to gain the evidence to meet the criteria required. It will help plan the approach depending on such things as disability, language, prior learning and experience.
However stress levels may also increase due to the addiction itself, e.g. developing family problems/ financial difficulties. Claridge & Davis (2003) found that certain individuals who were anxious become more stressed and seek relief in the form of drugs. The addiction occurs as the result of an interaction between action of drug and distress. However we cannot establish cause and effect from studies relating stress to addiction as stress may be the result and not the cause of addiction.
There are different causes for this, evidence has shown that some programmes to reduce health inequalities, have actually exacerbated the differences. Policies controlling tobacco, using individualised approaches by encouraging good choice and based on providing information, have been shown to benefit individuals from higher socio-economic groups. (Niederdeppe et al 2008 cited in Backholer et al 2014). Alternatively, some policies have been shown to have an equal or increased impact on the lower socio-economic groups e.g. laws that restrict smoking inside, or increased taxation on tobacco.
Although the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was passed by Congress for positive reasons, there are many disadvantages that come along with it. A major issue is the cost of regulation, especially for smaller companies. Expanding internal controls delay the timeliness of financial statements by adding processing time to accounting functions. To follow the SOX, companies would need to separate duties, causing an increase in personnel. The SOX also calls for additional audits which increase business costs.
The cost of alcohol abuse has an impact on the economy by increasing healthcare cost, insurance cost covering highway alcohol related accidents and court cost in punishing those who serve or sell alcohol to impaired or young drinkers. 2. Analyze how prescription drugs affect the demand and supply of other products and services in this country. The cost of research and development plays a key role in the cost of the product as well as the demand. If the cost of the product is low or lower than the competitor the demand is going to increase.
Although the Roaring Twenties was a time of music, creativity, and innovation, there still were problems that needed to be addressed by the Government. Alcohol, The Great Depression, and organized crime were all major problems during this decade. The Government did its best to fix these problems but unfortunately, its efforts did not always pay off. For Example, when the Government prohibited alcohol it made organized crime increase instead of diminishing the amount of alcohol being used. On the other hand, in some cases its attempts solved the matter.
Decriminalize Drugs? Drugs have come a long way, ever since man has existed. The topic of legalizing drugs or decriminalizing in California is a sensitive topic, such that people are for and against. There is a lot of pros along with cons. Pros, it can influence the economy by taxing it and generate billions; the con, no one could tell or know what society would react to such outcomes.
