Many believe that a government without limits will turn into a government that acts in ways that will disregard the rights of all in all circumstances (Zalman, M. (2008). Those who support the crime control model, however, indicate that these protections hinder law enforcement investigation and allow defendants more privacy than victims are allowed “Crime control emphasizes an efficient criminal process through early determination of guilt by law enforcement agents” and the Fourth Amendment prevents this (Cornell,
1. From your understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, explain how you feel it may negatively affect America’s stock exchanges. The higher than expected costs for many public companies caused some companies to abandon their public status. The costs of SOX compliance negatively affect companies, markets, investors, and economic growth. Fewer companies are willing to enter the market because of the SOX requirements that make going public too costly.
The fact that the prosecutor works in the interests of the state can be seen as the underlying factor here. The prosecutor can get away with misconduct; because if it were proven that the prosecutor was actually responsible for misconduct it would greatly undermine the goal of the state, which is to seek justice. If the prosecutor is misconducting themselves then it gives the impression that the prosecutor is not interested in justice, but more so a conviction, whether it be done so legally and ethically, or not. Prosecutorial misconduct happens, and
Businesses also suffer when massive layoffs occur. When spending by households decreases, incomes decrease for the businesses. Governments are not immune from the effects of massive layoffs of employees either. When households spend less, and businesses are selling less, there is less sales tax to be collected by the government. Also, when employees are laid off there is less income tax to be collected and to make things even worse, former employees can collect unemployment benefits from the government.
But if the amount left aside isn’t as much as the price of the building the business will have to use money from elsewhere. This will mean that another expense will not be paid. If the expense is not paid it will mean that the business will be in debt and the business will have to find a way to find more money or run the risk of going bankrupt. A way the business can do this is by getting rid of some of their members of staff to cut the amount spend on
P.65 Because political and economic factor listed above; In addition, government bureaucrats salaries are very low, inevitably demand bribes from any company that cross their path meaning a long line of officials might require bribes. c. Based on this case and what you have learned in this chapter, what are the consequences of corruption on a country? Ppt
This is demonstrated in documents 4, 5, and 6. Henry Haskell states that “The government undertook such far-reaching responsibility in affairs that the fiber of the citizens weakened” (Document 4) This shows that the decline of the empire was due to heavy taxation that couldn’t support the government. If the taxes couldn’t sustain the government then it wouldn’t be able to control the people. According to Montanelli “The military crisis was the result of… proud old aristocracy’s… shortage of children” (Document 5) This means that many children weren’t old enough to go into the military which caused the decrease of soldiers. With the lack of soldiers, it would be easier to invade Rome, which could’ve led to the decline of the Empire.
In the case there is a lot of evidence which indicates that management is not effectively motivating their employees and this is leading to a decline in productivity and profitability. One reason would be management is not giving employees proper incentives to raise their productivity levels and they are using a financial incentive plan with major flaws in its design (Scanlon Plan). Another reason would be the decline in suggestions that are submitted, at the programs height 305 suggestions were submitted. Now it has dropped to 50 a year showing that employees no longer feel like they are contributing successfully to the plant success. This is a major issue because feedback is an essential part of motivating a person and making them feel valued in the company.
In my opinion it is a sick cycle, which enviably will reduce the standard of living in the United States. The individuals seeking to pay less for their purchases don’t realize the effect it has on the surrounding economy, including reduced wages, reduced community support, reduced business opportunity, reduced land values, reduced tax base, and ultimately lower standard and quality of living for most members of the community. I personally think that Wal-Mart is a modern day monopoly. It kills the competition. This is harmful for our economy.
For instance, they may be able to start up with a new idea. | During recession, Innocent’s confidence will get low as people aren’t demanding for their products as they demanded before. This leads Innocent to cut down on production because they no longer need to make many goods as they used to. Because people are not buying as many products so their sales will decrease. By this time, Innocent might struggle to pay wages so they need cut down staffs as they no longer need them.
