Professor Bailey Written Composition October 24, 2012 Illegal Immigrants Help More than they Hurt Going back in history you probably can recall that America was founded by illegal immigrants. Without them who know if we would even be. So why are we so hard on the illegal immigrants now? They made a change once who’s to say they can’t and won’t do it again but things can only happen by opportunity and availability. We have the availability we just need to give them the opportunity.
This is vigilante style justice and should not be condoned, but a man has a right to protect his land from intruders. Our national guard should get involved and help protect our country from outside intruders. We need more personnel at our borders. If the Mexican government is not going to be proactive and help with border control then the United States should take every measure possible to control the importation of illegal goods, drugs, weapons and people. Not every person that comes across our borders is just here to work and prosper.
Freedom? The immigration fight in the United States has been going on for a very long time and has proven to be quite controversial. Is immigration reform a product of what happen on September 11, 2001 and there is a genuine need for stricter immigration laws and higher national security? Or is it just a need to prevent certain groups of people from immigrating to the United States each year? Some people might say the immigration laws are put into place to protect Americans and their rights; however, studies have shown and will show there has been bias since the founding of the United States in the immigration laws.
People on the other side of this argument claim that immigrants help by taking unwanted jobs with very little pay, and in doing that they are helping keep the prices of domestic goods down across the country. Can immigration be really called a problem? It is likely that most people would call immigration a major problem. Even though immigrants take the lowest of domestic jobs and it is agreed that too much money is being spent to thwart illegals from trying to come into the country, immigration ultimately helps the economy because immigrants take undesirable jobs and there is no statistical evidence that immigration is harming our country in any way. In fact the opposite is the truth; there is evidence that immigration helps the economy in boosting the amount of jobs and that wages are altered in a positive way for everybody who works legally.
This is the right choice because if, for example, Mexico is charged for the serves then they may be more willing to fix their own county to make it a more reasonable choice to stay. Also, money being provided to help immigrants will be being paid back and helping to fix the national debt and lower immigrant levels would offer more jobs for American citizens. Most illegal immigrants flee their counties
Other citizens believe that immigration contributes to crime, poverty, and overcrowding. The outlook and policies on the topic of immigration have progressively changed during the last fifty years and the government is trying to limit the number of illegal immigrants to the United States by tightening borders, while reshaping current immigration policies to help legal immigrants to be productive contributors to society. The challenges immigrants create are can be argued, but it is important to understand that they do serve a purpose. Immigration offers the United States unique benefits that will allow us to be a more productive, competitive, and successful nation in the 21st century. America is a successful national power, whose economic growth and opportunities have attracted many people from all over the world to immigrate and start a new life.
It is believed that just because they are illegal aliens, they are automatically out to do illegal crimes, but that’s not that case. More times than not people flee their country with their families in hope of more job opportunities, less wars in their country, and a better life in general. Recent studies taken place in New York have actually shown that immigrants decreased crime rates. “According to geographic data, actually, it appears that in New York, immigration may have even reduced crime, or at least correlated with lower crime rates. As explained by Chrissie Long, a graduate student at the Harvard Kennedy School, the study found that “immigration actually appears to have a protective effect on crime,” as the presence of immigrants in New York neighborhoods “often means decreased crime rates” (Melber 2013).
Illegal immigration does not have a negative economic impact in the United States as some people would make it seem. This misconception is due to people thinking that the illegal immigrants are stealing the jobs of good citizens leaving them without work. Another misconception is that the workers are taking money from our economy. However both of these reasons are quickly proven unfounded in fact. This topic is of importance to the people of the United States because there are around 12 million illegal immigrants living and working in this nation.
Memorandum To: John P. Walters, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy From: Susan Fisk Re: Marijuana Prohibition in the United States Date: April 25, 2005 Introduction to Marijuana Prohibition Marijuana has not always been a controlled substance in the United States, but has become increasingly criminalized over the years with increased punishments for its possession, distribution, and growth. These measures have been justified under the assumption they protect America from drugs and keep us safe. However, time has shown us that the prohibition and criminalization of marijuana has created many problems, including huge amounts of government spending, decreased resources for other government projects, and thousands of lives ruined or destroyed. The problems created by our strictly enforced prohibition policies are even greater than the problems marijuana itself is reported to cause. To minimize the harms caused by these policies, the Office of National Drug Control should work to ensure both the repeal of mandatory minimum laws and de facto
Illegal Immigration- A Problem at the U.S Borders Illegal immigration has been a problem at the U.S/Mexican border for years. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, in 2008 there were about 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States in 2008. One of the problems that are caused by this is that illegal aliens are getting jobs in America. These jobs that they are getting should be going to true Americans that are legal. Some people have been looking for a job for a long time, and the illegal immigrants are taking them.
