Jenna Taylor Emily Bayus Lindsay Shewmaker English 102 1 December 2013 Illegal Immigration: The problem and the Solution [INSERT INTRODUCTION HERE] In the United States of America, as of 2011, there are an estimated eleven million illegal immigrants from across the globe (mostly coming from Mexico). Illegal immigrants that come from around the world are simply looking for the good ole “American Dream”, and that’s what we have to offer, right? So why not just let them enter peacefully, so that they can fulfill this dream, and live happily ever after. I mean heck, the only reason that we, as Americans have any opposition over illegal immigration is because of racism, right? Wrong.
Even though the consequences of their maltreatment may not be serious, immigrants should always report this act which sometimes can cost them their lives. Otherwise, the abuse of many other immigrants will still go on. And if you are in need of any medical treatment at that time that you report the accident to the authorities, they will off course have your back and give it to you. The second reason why immigrants should report maltreatment from any authority officer is that if they don’t the abuse will likely continue and many of innocent people could lose their lives. Meanwhile, if by any chance immigrants report this act more often and recognize the officer who maltreated them at that moment, many officers will think twice before committing such a crime.
Debating Illegal Immigration Trying to figure out an issue that has been affecting the United States for many years we ask ourselves does illegal immigration really affect our everyday lives? Although many of us have very different views about this issue it’s very hard to come to try and figure out what works best. Some of us come from families whose parents were illegal immigrants at one point and then became citizens of the United States. This is something that affects not only Latino families but many different races in the world trying to get into the United States illegally for a better life and a better future for our families. So much news surrounds us about how this has been a problem with many different laws in the country so
Immigration Immigrants in todays’ society come to America for a better life, opportunities, and to be free. The Hispanics will do whatever it takes to any extreme to get beyond our borders to have the possibilities we ensure. The traffic of illegal immigrants in America currently is a problem we face because, they have taken the jobs some Americans could obtain to support their families in todays economy. We must find extract the reasons these immigrants flock to America because they’re taking jobs away from Americans during this horrid economy. Illegal immigrants have broken the law by sneaking across the borders of the United States of America.
They send it off to relatives in their home countries." (Haughen 87). The money that they make here is not only under the table so they don't pay taxes but sent to support their families in Mexico. "One of Mexico's largest revenue streams consists of money sent home by legal immigrants and illegal aliens working in the U.S... This is a massive transfer of wealth from America - essentially from America's displaced working poor - to Mexico" (Haughen 101).
Customs officers are expected to do their job and put a stop to the drug trafficking but the temptation of making some extra money may be extremely strong. Money is the root of all evil and a lot of people are very selfish. For an example, they know the effects drugs have on a society as a whole but if the price is high enough, they may turn their head and allow the drugs to be brought in. Not only is this wrong, it is damaging to everyone. “It is believed that the loss of the drug trafficking industry in Mexico would cause that country’s economy to shrink by over 63 percent” (DrugAbuse.net, (2012), para.
Such pervasive corruption denigrates and demoralizes all law enforcers and causes disrespect for law among citizens. The distractive effects of the drug war on law enforcement indirectly but profoundly encourage crime. In many cities, half or more of arrests are for drugs or related crimes, expending police resources and energy that might otherwise be available for domestic violence, fraud and other serious offenses. As a consequence, all criminals have a much better chance of escaping detection and punishment than if drugs were legal. (Duke, Steven B. Dec. 1993). The drug war also deeply undercuts the role of incarceration in dealing with people convicted of such serious crimes as child molesting, rape, kidnaping and homicide.
Another large influence is crime as it becomes increasingly more dangerous to get to the U.S through Mexico because of drug cartels. So many potential illegal immigrants are deterred by the risk of being knapped or
There are many pros and cons to illegal immigrants living in the United States; however, it is a national issue that has to be taken control of. Illegal immigration has been a major problem in the United States for many years. Today there are over 11
Illegal Immigration in the United States How do we define illegal immigrant, an alien (non-citizen) who has entered the United States without government permission or stayed beyond the termination date of a visa. There are over 11.9 million illegal immigrants in the US today. The numbers have rapidly grown over the years. These children automatically gain US citizenship.
