Is competition good or bad? When it comes to competition, we usually think about two aspects of that: enthusiastic support and qualified support. The first point of view indicates that the more we involve our children in rivalry, the better. Competition builds character and results in excellence. The second opinion admits that our society won't need to be Number One. So it is not necessary to force kids too hard and too fast to become winners. But it believes that competition can be healthy and fun in some stances. According to some investigations about the topic, and looking at research from psychology, sociology, biology, education, and other fields, it is clear that neither of two opinions is correct. Competition is really a bad statement, but we should not exaggerate about it or misuse it. The problem is with competition itself. Children must have no competition at all, and the term "healthy competition" is actually absurd. You may ask" does competition come from human nature or is it a learned behavior?" Studies have shown that if we give a choice to children between cooperative and competitive activities, they would prefer the second one. This proves that dog-eat-dog is not a natural tendency. It seems that dog-eat-dog is taught in some societies. Some which are done excessively are not so bad but some are basically destructive. Competition is one of those things which someone can succeed only if others fail. So it is not always necessary and appropriate at schools, at plays, and at home. Parents usually place their children in some situations where the ultimate goal is winning-where the winners are considered as heroes and the losers just as losers. They are compared with each other merely by winning.
