In the book The Outsiders there are three brothers: Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis. In the book the three have been through a lot together. They are all similar and different in many ways. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting these what makes these characters who they are. The first character I will looking at is Darry Curtis. He is the oldest if the three brothers. After the boys' parents died in a tragic he takes parent role of the house. He works two jobs and has to support the family. Often Ponyboy thinks that Darry is yelling at him or is disappointed in him. But Ponyboy doesn't understand that Darry is just worried for Ponyboy and hopes that he go farther than Darry could. He is the youngest at about 14. He is one of th smartest Curtis brothers. He skipped a grade and is in high school. Everybody sees Ponyboy as a greaser. Everybody thinks that because he's a greaser that he just like the rest of them. Only Cherry saw there was another side to him. Only Cherry knew that Ponyboy went deeper then all the other greasers. He likes to watch sunsets. Something that Darry would never do. He gos to movies by himself because he knows that no one else will go with him. He likes to read books and draw pictures. The other greasers would never be caught doing any of that. Him and Johnny even went to church. Cherry saw that they were different from the other greasers. Ponyboy smoked a lot. His brothers might d it to look tough in front of Socs but they weren't addicted to it like Ponyboy was. Nicotine wasn't the only thing Ponyboy was addicted to. He loved Pepsi.
