Compare and contrast the films ‘Spiderman’ and ‘Iron Man’ By, Joseph Jacobsen- Laws This essay, as suggested in the title, will compare and contrast everything from characters and themes to outfits and locations from the films ‘Spiderman’ and ‘Iron Man’. They are both concerning a young man and his development into a superhero, either using technologic equipment to concoct an astounding titanium alloy outfit, or fortuitously consuming powerful performance enhancers. In the Spiderman movies, Peter rescues individuals ubiquitously in his city while trying to care for his aunt and the girl he feels affection for. Iron Man saves the world striving to protect citizens from the weapons he has created. Though Spiderman and Iron Man are superheroes with motivation, their methods of saving and their attitudes about their roles are very unlike. Peter Parker, the alter-ego of Spiderman, is reticent, unobtrusive and ostracized, and is socially unaccepted. However, Tony Stark, Iron Man’s alter-ego, is a philanderer, affluent, and a successful entrepreneur. Stark is also bodacious and stylish. In this area, the two are very dissimilar. However, both are valiant, heroic and inspiring in their superhuman figure. In this area, they are very analogous. Parker and Stark also both have gallant spirits and robustness, reminiscent of other superheroes. Family and women are fundamental parts of both movies, but on very different grounds. In the Spiderman movie, Peter lives with his aunt and uncle, as his parents died when he was juvenile. But Peter’s uncle is shot, and passes away. This ruptures Peter’s heart, as his uncle was very intimate to him, and also as Peter had been somewhat callous to him prior to his uncle’s death. Consequently, he begins to cosset and overprotect his aunt, which is a focal reason that he resolves to become a hero. The girl that Peter likes is named
