From what I have learned in my Interpersonal Communication course, I would start by telling you that communication is the most important part to a successful relationship. Some of the things that you will need to keep in mind are that you need to develop strategies for active, critical, and empathic listening. That perception, emotion and non-verbal expression affect interpersonal relationships. Also that emotional intelligence, self-disclosure and gender as well as culture affect interpersonal communication. I will briefly touch on those topics in the hopes that they will help you have a successful marriage. 2. Develop strategies for active, critical, and empathic listening. 3. Understanding how perception, emotions, and nonverbal expression affect interpersonal relationships. 4. Define emotional intelligence and its role in effective interpersonal relationships 5. Evaluate appropriate levels of self-disclosure in relationships. 6. Understand the impact of gender and culture on interpersonal communication. 7. Conclusion a. After explaining that communication is the most important part of a successful relationship it is my hope that when you communicate with one another daily you can have a happy marriage. By communicate I mean quality communication were you share your dreams, wants and fears with one another daily.
