If the student has learning disabilities, they will not tell anybody because they are too embarrassed to mention them and they struggle throughout school; they don’t ask for help. The second reason that high school grads are unable to read is failure of school systems. Schools are overpopulated and crowded and ones that are in large populated areas are more focused on academic functions then the curriculum of learning. They don’t have enough teachers or teacher’s assistants to give each individual one on one time to learn the material. Students don’t have that support from the teacher that they need to succeed in school.
One must dedicate more time to his or her studies in order to succeed. Most teachers and professors in high school and college are well-educated individuals. They have spent years studying to obtain a teaching degree. As teachers and professors, their main concern is for the student to learn, understand, and master what they teach. The teacher or professor may accomplish this by reviewing the material, emphasizing key points, and providing the students with examples that they would easily relate to.
Bad school experiences are also a large contributor for the school dropout rate. A large majority of dropout students were only taking the bare minimum general high school requirements. This is because no one pushed them to try harder. This made students feel that school was not important enough to try hard at. These students then do not even care because they do not think school is important.
In High Schools around the United States scores are getting worse and worse and it’s due to unmotivated teachers who don’t care about the integrity of teaching anymore because it all seems pointless in this current time. You could make a lot more points about High School and its flaws but these ones are the biggest ones that need addressing. From High School to College, a lot of things change. In College you pick your classes, your times, basically everything. You have freedom to do what you like and aren’t held back by counselors and certain start times.
I believe that the students should be blamed for the lack of learning in school because they lack maturity, they don’t care about their education, and they are set up to succeed. To begin, the maturity of students is very low when it comes to their education. They cannot do any of their school work without their teacher having to tell them over and over again. John Gatto explains in his article, “How Public Education Cripples Our Kids, and Why”, how maturity is being thrown out the window and completely forgotten about. Gatto states that “Maturity has by now been banished from nearly every aspect of our lives.
Piling on the homework will not help the students advance in school. In fact it could well have the reverse effect entirely. Students report becoming stressed from the volume of homework that is assigned by their collective teachers within a day’s time in high school and ultimately not getting all of the work completed (Rhodes). Stress can affect children in many positive and negative ways. Although for high school pupils, stress that is created by overloads of homework is never a positive aspect to have in life.
First of all, I am in light that colleges and universities should be preparing students for the small-armpower. This is because, oddball twist education and life skills, should be taught at an early stage of education, which is the school. In colleges and universities, the students possess become childly adults and develop their own way of thinking. It is the role of colleges and universities to teach the students the skills necessary in their field for the workforce. During college and universities, students have opted the subject that they would like to take in their career.

During my own experiences in high school, the pressure to achieve a college education seemed endless and often overwhelming as there were others in high school who seemed to have it to have it all figured out. These ideas, notions and pressures for youth to graduate and become successful as I reflect was somewhat of a grave injustice to the individual needing something more, something centralize or differently structured academically to at least bring about the best results of continuing education beyond the 12th grade and create substance. The pursuit of educational value impacts individuals differently as it a personal journey and sometimes a personal struggle but as I matured I realize that society places high importance on earning degrees and being successful without always providing the effective foundations to do so.
In college as well as in kindergarten you find students that put forth no effort, when this happens you have students who are going to have to work harder to pick up the slack.
