These hoaxes amplify society’s image of the criminalblackman. These white-on-black racial hoaxes are often times believed immediately because society finds it highly likely that a black person did indeed commit the crime. Often times the perpetrators of these racial hoaxes are only charged with filing a false police report, if any charges are brought at all. In the event the perpetrator is charged with the crime they are trying to cover up, it is less likely that any additional charges will be filed for the hoax since they are already being charged with the more serious crime. Typically there is not amends of any kind made to the person or the community that has been affected by the hoax; not even a simple apology.
This is a day that will forever be burned in the minds of not only Americans, but other cultures and races across the world. A random act of violence (of a target) can have a few different levels. This was a hate crime that not only affected Caucasians, but races from all over the world, and once other races were affected; there was no taking back the damage that had been done. When referencing the factors that serve as victimization many different levels come to mind. If the hate crime is sexual orientation based, the factor(s) would be if the victim is LGBTQ, and with the number of individuals having issues with LGBTQ, the number of crimes is on the rise.
Racial profiling is a form of discrimination by which law enforcement uses a person’s race or cultural background as the primary reason to suspect that the individual has broken the law. Racial profiling is a serious human rights problem affecting millions of people in the United States in even the most routine aspects of their daily lives. The debate over racial profiling has become a central element in a much larger history of adversarial relationships between the police and communities of color. Already-existing tensions between police and communities of color became heightened over the past two decades as allegations of racial profiling by law enforcement agents against people of color increased in number and frequency. A "profile" is a coherent set of facts - known conditions and observable behavior that indicate a particular individual may be engaged in criminal activity.
This is “the practice by law enforcement of considering race as an indicator of the likelihood of criminal behavior” (Robinson 530). The issue of using race to identify people is disputable because minorities feel that it is an act of inequality and also humiliating. However, the Supreme Court supports its legality as long as ethnicity is seen as an important factor that determines the detainment of an individual. Many have struggled to understand and address these problematic issues including social scientists, law enforcement, and other theorists. Society’s general adaption of values such as equality and tolerance coupled with the persistence of group tensions arising from a long history of ethnic, racial and status differences has given rise to a different brand of criminal activity; the hate crime. Increases or shifts in diversity have also contributed to the emergence of the hate crime (Boeckmann, R. J., 2002). Recognition of the dangerous harm of these acts is responded to in the form of hate crime laws.
