I decided to become a nurse. The field of science never really fascinated me. I got through it while I was going to school, but the real reason I became a nurse was to heal people in a caring way. My husband and I both work in a very demand field. We work long hours and don’t talk as much as we would like.
However they have made no changes on the work level expected of her and continually ask her to help. Anna, like other managers and partners have all been affected by the company’s desire to meet its deadlines and satisfy its client through extended work hours. * Anna has been working at 60% of her normal operating time, however due to workload she is forced to respond to urgent voicemails and emails. She also has done some work from home when she is suppose to be resting or looking after her daughter which was the reason she decided to reduce her hours initially. * Motherhood has not been very easy as well.
My current job autonomy is necessary. Working in hospitals and nursing homes the majority of my nursing career, becoming completely autonomous was like culture shock for me. In a hospital you have co-workers, doctors, PT, Pharmacy all at your fingertips for information or advice and just help. Working out in the community was hard for me at first because I was not use to being completely alone. I did learn a lot with this job and have grown tremendously, since starting.
Being a nurse has always meant more to me than a white dress, it provides excellent job, opportunities, as well as an identity. Although nursing is a great career, it is much more than just a job. As a nurse you get a little glimpse into people’s private lives. You are there at their worst and best moments in life. In one day you may have to tell someone that a
In the early stage of nursing, most of the people engaged in this profession were uneducated and unrecognized people in the society. Today, there is growing number of students receiving basic nursing education in colleges and universities. Nursing practice trends include a growing variety of settings in which nurses now continue to gain autonomy and respect as members of the health care team. Secondly, Nursing was a job for the “undesirables” in society, the pay was poor, and there was no social standing. Due to early nursing figures, nursing gained the respect from the military and government.
Being a mother at the age of fifteen was not an easy task but Daphne had no other choice. With a sometimes delightful, well paying, unrewarding job that got bills paid and food on the table. Daphne found out that a common disease amongst her family resided under her flesh. Breast cancer found her at an early age but it has not gotten the best of her. Throughout 38 years of living, being a single mother, working the same career for 17 years, and fighting breast cancer still has not strangled the liveliness from Daphne’s spirits.
Nurses began as one of the lowest status in society. This was a job for those who could find income in no other way. Those commonly referred to as “undesirables” working as nurses were the beginning of a lengthy timeline to end with a career that now holds respect of many. Now the career of nursing includes females as well as males and from all ethnicities and races. The education process in these early nursing times did not exist.
The doctors she needs to see, she goes on to say, are not available to her as they do not participate with her insurance, Aetna. This is not the first time I have heard this. Apparently she has had quite a struggle obtaining an affordable and decent insurance. Sue rants that some days she cannot even eat whole food as it does not digest so she has lost a lot of weight and eats pureed food frequently. I ask about the ER.
Reflective account on: Be able to monitor care plans Q 5 Mrs S lived alone and had carers going in to assist her 3 times a day. Her health started to deteriorate and was having lots of falls when no one was there. Neighbours would sometimes go in to help her but her health continued to worsen. Her care package was increased to the maximum so she could have check calls throughout the day. It did not however stop her being taken to hospital at least once a month because of other problems she had as well as the falls.
I locked myself in my room for days. I remember going to the services and how hard it was. As I grew older, I realized that everyone has gone through this similar process because everyone handles things differently, and we all have to deal with losing loved ones. We are only on this earth for a period of time. As I’m older now I deal with death better then when I was a child.
