For the interview project I spoke with Jessica Flynn a US history and AP Comparative Governments and Politics teacher at Greenwich High School. She has been teaching at Greenwich High School for two years now. I was able to get some of her insight regarding curriculum and how it works in her specific district. 1) How do you integrate technology into the curriculum that you teach? * At GHS (Greenwich High School in Greenwich CT) every classroom has a Smart-board, which is especially useful when integrating technology into daily lessons. * I teach 10th grade American History and 11th grade AP Comparative Government and Politics, so I typically start my Do Now’s with a political cartoon or news clip on the Smart-board that students can observe/watch or analyze prior to the lesson and then make connections between that event and the Essential Question of the unit and day. * You can also write directly onto a Smart-board, which makes it especially useful. 2.) How often are the textbooks / literature used to design your lessons? * I often use textbooks to support class learning and to become familiar with historical vocabulary however; the primary components of my lessons are primary sources in the classroom. * Primary sources such as journal entries, speeches,…show more content…
For example, in GHS we have a fully inclusive education system. All SPED Students are integrated within the mainstream classroom whenever possible and as long as the general ed. classroom is the least restrictive environment for the students. This is very helpful to those students with autism for example, who are trying to develop their socialization skills; however, if a child has severe cognitive disabilities they can not be expected to learn the full extent of the material that the mainstream students do, so modification of work and identifying each student's strengths and weaknesses early in the year is essential to their progress over
