Civil War Book Review

Stumbling in the Dark

I began my research by going to the Fairfax County Public Library website. From there I did numerous searches on the Civil War Generals, Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. Afterwards, I had selected 10 books from the Dolley Madison Public Library. I wrote down the Dewey decimal number and left my house to fish out the books and check them out. When I arrived, I had to refresh my Dewey decimal system knowledge. It has been a while since I have been to any library with such a specific title/titles in mind. I proceeded to locate and skim the titles for all the necessary information that was needed. In addition, I looked around the library a little more for any other books that could be of help to me. This source is helpful because it contained many unique facts about the Civil War generals Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. In addition, it also described the tactics used in each of the battles. It listed the actions the generals took and the end result. This title goes beyond the well-known battles of the Civil War because it includes all of the battles that happened during the Civil War era. I’m looking forward to reading about the more uncommon battles of the time. My second source is a book titled Robert E Lee’s Civil War. This source is helpful because it focuses solely on Robert E. Lee’s battle strategy from his point of view. The book covers Lee’s battle tactics from the beginning of the Civil War to his surrender at Appomattox courthouse. It gives the reader information on what Lee did as the general of the confederate forces as well as what he accomplished after the war ended.
