Christians believe that everything that exists, is the result of God. The Bible states in Genesis 1:1, that God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning. 2 Peter 1:21 says that Moses who wrote Genesis while being inspired by the Holy Spirit, says that God is the creator of all living things. Almost all Christian churches teach that God is the trinity and was the major benefactor in the creation of mankind and the universe. What does it mean to be human and are we more important than animals?
Now in previous verses God is creating everything in the earth, but the thing that sets the creation of man apart from this, is being made in His image and having His breath breathed into man. The purpose of life has so many different meanings, and they can be found on just about every page of the bible. According to John 17:3 the whole purpose for life on earth is, “that they may know You, the only true God”(John 17:3, NIV). Ecclesiastes 12:13 has an amazing blunt explanation in the purpose of life, “..Fear God and keep his
The term “Our Father” is from the word “Abba” which carried a more intimate sense of “daddy”. It is a sense of intimacy that Jesus instructs his disciples to relate to God. The use of “our” suggests that we must pray, not only alone and for ourselves, but with and for
The goal of a Christian is to develop a close relationship with God through (Word of God) the ministry of Jesus Christ and by the aid of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the anointed one from God the Father who came to this world, to fulfill the Old Testament laws and prophecies. Jesus performed miracles which are recorded in the Gospels by the eyewitnesses. Christianity teaches that there is one God, one faith and one baptism; it teaches that God made the universe, the earth and He created Adam and Eve and that God created man in His image, that mean God’s character. That means every person is made in God’s image and likeness.
This is reiterated in Genesis 1:1 and Psalm 139:13-16. Throughout life, many Christians are taught that “God is triune and all three Persons of the Godhead were involved in the creation of the universe and mankind” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p.56). Man is created in the image of God and according to the theistic view, “… is a special creation of God … and is responsible to take care of God’s creation” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p. 58). In Genesis 2:15 and Psalm 8:5, man’s identity is further defined. Man was created with moral and spiritual capacities, among other things, from God so that we may understand our identity as His creation.
First, the question of origin; where did we and the world around us come from. According to the biblical/Christian Worldview, the world and everything in it came through the creative making of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We find evidence of this through the writings of Moses, the author of Genesis. In chapters 1 and 2, Moses describes how God made the universe and formed man from the dust of the ground. Even the book of John describes Jesus’ involvement in “making” the world (Holy Bible, John 1:10).
Additionally, the writers of the bible write that God creates “Ex nihilo”; this shows how everything came from God and further supports the fact that God is omnipotent. God's omnipotence can be seen again when he creates just by his word. “And God said “let there be light, and there was” Genesis 1 1:3. Moreover, in the books of Job 38:4-38 God is described as a craftsmen calculating and measuring every
First topic: John 1:1-18 Pre-mortal life and the human spark of divinity. The unknown writer of the book of John was writing in context of the culture he lived in. John is very different from the Gospels of Mathew, Mark, and Luke in story emphasis. According to An Introduction To The New Testament, (Boring) the first passage of John, Chapter 1:1-18 was a hymn of the Johannine community of believers of the time. The plot in this story is simple, the Word, attributed as Jesus Christ, helps God to create our world, he then obtains mortal life and while containing that essential spark of divinity, he generously passes on the ability for us to receive our own divine spark, thus making us children of God as well.
From the beginning of the bible, in Genesis, attributes of God are shown. Firstly, God is shown as the creator. In this, God was seen as creating the world and people out of nothing. This view is appealing today, as it relates to the big bang theory, as God is the cause of everything, just like the prime mover. Genesis 1 shows a transcendent God, who created the world in 6 days through speech, similar to the prime mover developed by Aristotle.
But more importantly, God has given us a glimpse into His nature by creating man as a reflection of His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-28). WORLDVIEW 3 The Question of Meaning/Purpose? The biblical worldview is a love story between God and man that unveils the mystery of mans rescue in Christ Jesus (Eph.3: 3-4), which opens his eyes and delivers him from the power of Satan, into the power of God (Acts 26:18). This power was demonstrated by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death into life, and now works in those who know Him (Eph.1: 15-23; Jn. 5:24; 17:3).
