As I said before in the beginning of the book Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is gloomy and feeling hopeless about love because Rosaline (the women he “loves”) is not going to get married. He says: “She is too fair, too wise, wisely to far, To merit bliss by making
ctions, even ifnot purposely. This shows that, in the end, Friar Lawrence is merely ahypocrite offering his distorted option.One of the places that Friar Lawrence offers hypocritical advice iswhen Romeo consults with him on how he wants to marry Juliet. When Romeofirst goes to Friar Lawrence, excitedly telling him about his new love, Juliet,Friar Lawrence is outraged, telling Romeo that he, like most young men, isnot really in love, but simply lusts for a new woman so quickly after he wasdying for his last. He says that Romeo is being too hasty and unwise inmarrying Juliet, and that he will eventually move on to someone else. Butdespite his own advice, the Friar marries the couple.
Romeo is talking in paradoxes; he does this to emphasize that love is confusing. He says that love is everything except for what it actually is. Since Romeo thinks that he is in love although no one loves him, love can be two things that are opposites at the same time. Although Romeo is happy to be in love, he does not like the thought of love itself because if no one loves him back, love will become more confusing. Romeo is hopelessly in love with Rosalind which he explains when he says, "I am too sore enpiercèd with his shaft To soar with his light feathers, and so bound, I cannot bound a pitch above dull woe.
The Friar responds with, “Young men’s love then lies/ Not truly in their hearts but, in their eyes jesu maria, what the deal of brine/ Hath washes thy sallow cheeks for Rosaline!”(2.3.68-90). In the first act, Romeo thought himself to be in love with Rosaline. Romeo had been distraught over the fact that his beloved Rosaline was going to become a nun. Romeo would never be able to love Rosoline, or be with her. Friar Lawrence makes fun of Romeo saying that young men only love what they see.
This does not allow Romeo to focus/see Juliet which may and probably will cause Romeo's depression which may contribute to Romeo's suicide. "Nay gentle Romeo, we must have you dance.-Mercutio" "Not I, believe me.-Romeo" Here Good vs. Evil is demonstrated because Mercutio, even though he is a Montegue like Romeo, is pressuring Romeo to do something that may not have been good at the time. This backs up my statement that throught the play, Mercutio and Tybalt are trying to get in Romeos head. "Thou, wretched boy, that didst consort him here, shalt with him hence.-Tybalt" This is the scene where Mercutio and Tybalt get in a fight and when Romeo is trying to stop them, the hate for each other(Good vs.
After Romeo soon learns about his banishment, he is told by Friar Laurence to go visit Juliet one last time; he responds by saying “It were a grief so brief to part with thee. Farewell.” (3.3.192-193). Thoughtless and stubborn, even though his “undying love” for Juliet affects him, Romeo does not realize that going to Juliet’s house can lead to dire consequences. To avoid these consequences, he could have left Verona immediately. During a tremendous argument between Juliet and her mother, Lady Capulet claims that Juliet must marry Paris, an innocent, charming man who wants to marry her, but she refuses and shouts, “ He shall not make me there a joyful bride…I will not marry yet; and when I do, I swear it shall be Romeo” (3.5.132-137).
“Friar Lawrence, less ambitious and more desperate than his fellow manipulators, does not hope that Juliet’s death will dissolve the families’ hatreds but only that it will give Romeo and chance to come and carry her off” (Snyder). At this point Romeo and Juliet’s relationship could not solve the problems between the families and the Friar was only uniting them. This is what made the Friar so repulsive. Even now after deaths and family issues, He treated the situation like a game. “Hold, daughter, I do spy a kind of hope, / Which craves as desperate an execution / As that is desperate which we would prevent (4.1.69-71).
The first words that we here from Tybalt was that he hates hell as all Montagues. Tybalt wanted to kill Romeo just for coming to the party. As Tybalt watch the Montagues drive away from the Capulets party he said “I will withdraw but this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet, convert to bitterest gall.” If Romeo had of told Tybalt of his love for Juliet, Tybalt would have killed Romeo at the first site of him but he did not so it was not Romeos love that killed Tybalt. Tybalt did not really care if he killed any of the Montagues but because Tybalt killed Mercutio Romeo killed Tybalt
Romeo Montague, the male protagonist, is very fickle when it comes to deciding who his true love is. In the beginning of the play, Romeo hides himself from the light of the day because he is in a mode of depression due to Rosaline’s rejection to love him. He is so in love with the idea of loving Rosaline that he goes to an extent of not being himself around his close friends. However, when he meets Juliet at the masquerade ball, he begins to doubt who his love truly is.
Also in the play Tybalt was basically asking to be killed because he started with them for no reason. Before Romeo killed Tybalt Lord Capulet actually liked Romeo and Tybalt wanted him to not make him like him anymore and it worked. And now Juliet has to lie to her father about everything and how she wants to marry Paris but she really wants to marry Romeo. So Tybalt basically ruined everything that Juliet wanted. Yes, Romeo does help us see them as complex human beings because it puts together how Tybalt and everyone else in the story and how they are all connected and how they all are different in the
