Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term. Hyman argues that the lower classes create a self imposed barrier to learning their values. This is because he believes that they have a low value on education, with a ‘play safe’ culture and also a low level of self belief. This would all impact on the child performance at school as they would not have the attitude needed to progress. If at any point they failed, they would see this as a big mistake and give up and have a lack of motivation.
“The Seasons Dying” by Eugene Ziller is a story that shows two different kinds of people in the world. It shows the ones that have compassion for those in need and want to help others no matter the outcome. The second one is of those that only care for themselves and do not want to help. A lot of people find both of these sides conflicting as they want to help others, but may find themselves in more of a need and don’t want to go out of their way to help others. The Salesman and the Counterman in the story show these two kinds of people.
They form bonds as a group together rather than being forced together. They want to succeed for the whole group as it is a morale boost for everyone to do well and improve cohesiveness. While on the other hand a group that doesn’t want to work together and doesn’t form a loyalty/bond with one another will ultimately put the whole group’s goals behind them and work for themselves. “Related directly to good communication skills are good listening skills. These skills are extremely important in the communication world.” (Ellis, 2009) 3) This basically says that without listening in a group people will never get their opinions heard and ultimately let down the group.
I can do well on any assignment if I try hard enough. TRUE 9. If I do well on an assignment or a test, I think it is because of good luck. FALSE 10. An important reason why I do my work in class is because I want to improve my performance.
There are some major problems with using them. Students with high I.Q’s are expected to do better than the rest of their class, and on the flip side students with low I.Q.’s are expected to do worse. That is not always fair because students with low I.Q.’s might not get the attention needed simply because their teachers do not expect much from them. In the end there is no fairness to some. This leads to an ethical question of, is giving an intelligence test ethical?
Module 6 Case Analysis 5 Introduction A safe and healthy working environment is a must for successful organizations, especially in the modern age. Even so, many employer continue to ignore the importance of this, and hence continue to put themselves in adverse situations due to this very reason. In our case analysis, we look at exactly one such example. Whilst doing so we also evaluate whether provision of a safe working environment can be costly and hence if there is any necessary trade-off between a need for keeping expenses low and the need of the workers to be provided safe working conditions? Finally we discuss the two ways, unsafe employee actions and unsafe working conditions upon which the Safety programs are actually based upon.
NCLB was established so that students were not held back in a grade and were promoted to the next grade. I think this is a political aspect that is failing our students. If a student is not understanding the material or doesn’t pass the tests showing that they understand and can retain the information, I don’t believe that they should be promoted. I believe that it only hurts the students because they get more behind as they advance through the levels. The ethical issues that regard the high stakes testing is that it could be unfair to some students.
They may think this because of their past or because they are being bullied. When people feel like this they will feel scared to go and talk to someone about their problems. In this situation we would go and help them and talk to them and help them bring their self-esteem up by doing activities with them. Lack of support is another we may come across. Not knowing who we can contact for advice and support for information or help.
One way to overcome this feeling of helplessness when they feel wronged is to get “even”. They may not have control over what the other person said or did to them but they have a feeling of control in the midst of their vengeful act, Another reason a person may do a violent vengeful act is to get attention when he feels disregarded or treated insignificantly. Many of these acts occur between people who know each other very well including intimate partners. The biggest theme throughout the story was revenge.
Problems are part of life regardless how good a person seems to be in society. The issue with school is all the work gets overwhelming for some students. Teachers don't think about some students don't understand the work as well as others. Everyone has their strengths in subjects and others have their weakness. As a student it feels like no matter how much effort it is not enough to succeed in an education.
