It is a replication of the media's fantasy of the "real man" (tough guise). As the dominant male figure, he strives only for these few things but rarely succeeds in getting them because his wife makes most of the household decisions. During the entire episode, Ray is only seen doing housework once. Unfortunately, he is completely clueless as to what to do and Debbie has to take over. This clearly shows that even though Ray is the dominant one in the house, he is not required to do thing pertaining to housework and childcare.
Su-Jen’s father, Hing-Wun, sacrifices everything for his family, and he struggles at the same time; these struggles continue in his whole life. Hing-Wun works so hard in the Dragon café to make money for his family, and he does not spend a single penny on himself; but his great efforts do not acquire a better future for himself. Even though he keeps working like a horse in his seventies for his family, his wife still complains about him and does not appreciate his attitudes towards life. Hing-Wun is such a kind man who always considers about his wife and he tells Su-Jen to think of and understand her mother’s situation. Therefore, Hing-Wun’s struggle against his hard work for his family is in vain.
Throughout the film, it shows the inventor’s daily routine of life – going to work, putting together the Happy product and then going home and inventing his own product ‘Bliss’. The repetitive lifestyle he lives is contrasted to the completion of his product. It gives birth to a colourful world that is viewed by most people. His product is a success but the inventor soon realises he himself is somewhat of a failure. The use of repetition demonstrates the harsh nature of life for everyone.
Marty would always be polite to people, but he generally preferred to keep it to himself. After college, Marty became a successful network administrator for a large financial company and married his longtime girlfriend. A dedicated family man, Marty spends most of his free time doing home improvement projects and looking after his two children. Mike Scanlon, on the other hand, could never be described as shy. He was the student that teachers dreaded having in their classroom: boisterous, unruly, and indifferent to authority.
CHAPTER 1 In the beginning of the chapter the main character “Terry Anders” and his parents are introduced. Terry mows lawns on his spare time and he loves working with motors. He is a very lonely boy with only one friend name Thor who’s moving to Africa. Terry’s parents neglect him and are always arguing with each other. Then both of his parents think that the other is staying with Terry so they leave him and never come back.
Ideals are shaped by its environment, and my father’s ideals are molded by his surroundings of a traditional Asian lifestyle where fathers can only act as fathers and never as friends, and where the sons and daughters of the family should do nothing but oblige and obey. Like Hata, who is always too busy with his work at the store to pay extra attention to Sunny’s outside life, my father, for the eleven years we have lived here, sleeps by day and works night shift in a factory with a few other Vietnamese men. So as long as he has been in the United States, his values and customs as a Vietnamese male have not quite been exposed by outside surroundings. Similar to Sunny, I have never had a long enough conversation with my dad for him to understand my point of view, and by the time I was barely a teenager, I completely stopped trying to explain myself because I realized that there is no use. Richard hunter also known as Dick stated to look for a position in a counting room, but still engaging half of the day to blacking boot because he didn’t want to want to use his $100 capital. After all, he didn’t even want to pay off his friend who served him as an instructor. Gradually, his slang language had been improved by his education and his friendship with Henry Fosdick. After several unsuccessful attempts in finding a job, Dick started realizing that he should be stick to his career for now. Since he started balancing more than his capital, he considered himself as a young man of property.
“This is my personal favorite characteristic of him, and most likely the smartest decision he ever made in his life.” States my Aunt Jenny about the mobster deals that Da’dooch turns down. Da’dooch was always looked down as the non- experienced and feeble- minded brother in the eyes of his father. His father always wanted his sons to be great business men or baseball stars. My great Uncle Pete (Da’dooch’s brother) was a third round pick for the New York Yankees, there he played for five years. Da’dooch never became the extraordinary business man or baseball star that his father intended him to be.
Through these thoughts he came to the conclusion that factory life was something to escape by higher education. College has never been a question for him after working long shifts at the factory. Flashbacks of factory life while slacking at school, kept him on track almost like he is working hard to avoid the punishment of factory life. Advice from
