Enhancing Patient Safety by reducing Medical Errors I chose the topic of “Enhancing patient safety by reducing medical errors” because it is a topic that I am very interested in. No matter what area of nursing I choose to go in, patient safety is always going to be a crucial part of the healthcare system. I know that when I work with the different patients, I am going have to provide a safe quality of care, be aware of the different risk factors that can affect a patient’s safety. I understand it is going to be a challenge to keep patients safe because errors and mistakes happen every day, and they can happen at any time. I feel like my job as a nurse would be to make sure that no errors occur, and that the patient is safe at all times.

Ethical Self Assessment Health care management fields, networks and systems have consistently changed since all began. An important part today’s business world is Ethics; this also applies to the health care field as patient’s information is a sensitive area. The American College of Health care Executives (ACHE) demonstrates the the organization’s commitment to ethics and support the ethical decisions made by its members (Ache's commitment to, 2014). This assignment requires a self-assessment of an individual’s ethical decisions within the health care industry, and the effects of the decisions made by the author during the evaluation process. It can be stressful for one to look at the results of a self-assessment test and see areas that need improvement.

Harsen, MSN, RN Ethical Analysis A leader is a person that can carry himself/herself with poise and truth; they must possess excellent communication skills, great moral and ethical values. Ethics may have many definitions to many different people and dependent upon what one is talking about in health care will define what type of ethics one is concerned with. An ethical analysis is when one takes a stand and looks at the multiple aspects that are dealt with in a particular health care setting and whether they ethical or unethical. This ethical analysis will be based on the Latino race and the mental health issues that they face.
Why would an ethical code give patient/family members confidence in an organization? The healthcare profession is represented by every professional within the industry when in contact with a patient or family member. As professionals, we play a vital role within the community and have an ethical obligation to ensure confidentiality, quality of care and people skills. When a family or patient are treated unfairly or are given the feeling that the healthcare professionals are not representing them with dignity and respect these interactions can breach the confidence. Therefore, if the ethical code is followed by healthcare professionals, patient and/or family members can develop confidence in their standard of care.
Are Patients Safe James E. Scarbrough III Baker College of Cadillac Are Patients Safe Patient safety is an extremely valuable aspect in the health care. The definition of patient safety is an area focusing on reporting an error, analysis and prevention of medical errors that often lead to adverse patient outcomes. Prevention means keeping patients safe from errors rather than reacting to them. These standards in patient safety inspire the most challenging issues in the health care setting. Reviewing these standards annually and publishing them on The Joint Commission Website, it is a key component to improving health care (The Joint Commission, 2011).
Roles and Functions of Health Care Managers Rechanda Primas HCS 325 December 12, 2011 Stephanie McCrary Roles and Functions of Health Care Managers In today’s lifestyle, health care managers are very important to ensure that each office runs effectively, efficiently, and productively. The most important role and function that a health care manager should possess is the ability to plan. According to the reading, “planning is the process of setting performance objectives and determining what action should be taken to accomplish them. Through planning, a manager is able to identify desired work results, make decisions, and lay the path for others to achieve the results” (Lombardi, eBooks Collections) Planning is crucial because it allows the overall team to be prepared in the event that changes need to occur. If the health care manager has the ability to plan, then the changes won’t come as a drastic occurrence that would otherwise lead to bigger problems.
Robotic Surgery; A Beneficial or Hindering Effect on Medicine Technology has always been related to facilitate daily life. But what if technology becomes so advanced that through the growth of it, human skills become weaker and the human race as a whole loses their capabilities? Robotic surgery is a prime example of this philosophy. While doctors control the robot, the machine is doing most of the work. Although robotic surgery is more effective, easier, and causes fewer side effects, surgeons will be so dependent on it that they will lose their technical surgical skills.
The Importance of Proper Chart Documentation Introduction One of the most important things you will do in your job in the healthcare profession is charting. Charting is the way healthcare professionals communicate a patient’s weight, height, condition, medication, and past medical history. As soon as you walk in a doctor’s office, hospital, or any medical facility charting begins from the moment you sign in. Only healthcare professionals that are certified, licensed, or registered to chart should do so. There are three reasons proper chart documentations are important: to avoid lawsuits, keep accurate medical information for patient, and to maintain proper communication from one professional to another.
This paper will address why accountability is so important in the health care industry. This paper will also address how an employee’s accountability is measured in the health care industry, how the accountability applies to ethical considerations in leadership and management, what does a checks-and-balances process look like in a successful organization, how does accountability affect an organization’s working culture, and finally how can one maintain a positive working culture and avoid a working culture of blame.
